As I write this welcome, we are preparing to celebrate The Core’s first birthday. It is a moment to look back on a fantastic first year, but also to look to the exciting future that lies ahead.
This season sees the introduction of a film programme at The Core, with a mixture of new releases, independent and classic films. We have recently installed state-of-the-art digital projection equipment, which will provide a high quality viewing experience in The Theatre auditorium.
The live programme continues to bring some of the best contemporary performance companies to Corby, including the innovative Third Angel with What I Heard About The World and the hilarious New Art Club with their Edinburgh Festival hit Quiet Act of Destruction. Add to that the mix of high profile comedians, quality music events and local community productions we have come to expect at The Core and it is another exciting season with something for everyone to enjoy.
We look forward to welcoming you to see a show, see a film or get involved in the wide range of creative activities on offer here at The Core.

Ever fancied producing your own events or wondered how an arts venue creates its programme? The Core and Dance4 are looking for inventive young people to be part of an exciting new project for 2012.
You will gain insights into project management, marketing, fundraising, programming and producing from established dance and theatre professionals, as well as connecting with young promoters and project managers from other parts of the UK.
Using the knowledge and skills you develop, you will then work alongside The Core’s creative staff to produce and promote the end-of-season Youth Arts Slam (p.18), the first Corby Young Actors show (p.20) and begin planning for more events in summer 2012.
Places are limited, so for more information please email [email protected] or call 01536 470 473.

Third Angel and mala voadora are looking for people to join them in their attempt to map the entire world, alphabetically, in a day. In 12 hours the performers will create The Story Map and to complete this they need you to help them name every country in its own language, collect a story for each country and place it on the map. Using cardboard, paper, pens and post-it notes, together they will take over The Lab and build a portrait of the world as it was, as it is now, and as it might be in the future. Drop in throughout the day, exchange stories and help us to see what state the world is in.
Third Angel is one of the most innovative contemporary theatre companies in the UK. There are four FREE workshops available to schools and colleges that bring a group of 20 or more students to see What I Heard About The World (p.18). These workshops will be delivered by the cast or directors of Third Angel and focus on devising contemporary theatre, introducing the processes the company use when creating new performance work.
To find out more about the workshops available email [email protected] or call 01536 470 473.
Please note there will be no sessions in the week of 13 February.
