One thing stands clear, we are blessed to live in a community that supports each other. From our city government, first responders, Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, faith community, Medical community, school district, nonprofits, and citizens, each one makes Rowlett a wonderful place to live, work and do business. And so we begin a new chapter in 2016. I am honored to serve as your 2016 Chair of the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. My top priority will be to ensure your Chamber membership is worthwhile to you and your company. As a business focused organization, the Chamber has one goal in mind and that is to be an invaluable resource to the business community. With that in mind, the Chamber will be sending a survey out to the entire business community in Rowlett. It is mission critical to our economic growth for us to offer existing and prospective business a resource to enhance economic wellbeing for Rowlett. I want to thank Bobby Montgomery for his leadership as 2015 chair of the Rowlett Chamber board of directors. I also want to thank the City of Rowlett for relocating the Chamber of Commerce building. The relocation of our Chamber provides greater visibility and access to our membership as the front door to our new main street. We welcomed 62 new members and celebrated grand openings and ribbon cuttings, engaged our legislators in Austin to voice the concerns of our city and business community, graduated Leadership Rowlett Class 24, and continued the growth of our programs. Our relationship with the City of Rowlett has continued to grow and mature, adding value to the Chamber and the businesses we represent. Our President, Diane Lemmons, is our driving force in the continued strengthening of this relationship and is always mindful of opportunities to partner with our city and school district to enhance all that is Rowlett. She has been an inspiration to us all throughout 2015, displaying courage beyond compare. We are blessed to have her leading the Chamber. Continued on page 2

Promoting the business community,

economic well-being, and the quality of life January 30, 2016

As we start the New Year, we reflect on 2015 as a year of transformation, a year of great economic growth, and a year where our community pulled together to rebuild from the devastation of a tornado that destroyed many homes and businesses in our city. 2015 will certainly be a monumental year in the history of Rowlett. We are honored to have the leadership and guidance of our new board of directors and look forward to their contributions as we plan and execute the work of the Chamber in 2016. The many facets of the Chamber afford our members many opportunities to get involved and make a difference, both for your business and the community. We value your input and participation and encourage you to become involved. This is an excellent way to establish relationships, learn more about the community and local businesses that call Rowlett home. The strength of the organization lies in its membership, which serves as a resource of ideas, manpower and talents from which our community can draw. I urge you to join a committee or help with one of the many activities of the Chamber. Together we can make a difference. Last but not least, I want to thank everyone for the love and support you showed our beloved Schrade family after our founding member passed away. The outpouring love and support was very uplifting to witness. Vernon Schrade will forever be in our hearts. We will be forever grateful for everything he did for our organization, our city and all the lives he touched along the way. It is an honor to be the Chair of the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce. With your help, we will continue our combined efforts to shape Rowlett into the future, support local commerce and build on the quality of life in Rowlett. Sincerely, Eva Hummel
