Cost Recovery. Many already know the phrase and how divisive it can be. Some are intrigued and seek out more information while others may feel intimidated. In reality, few professionals make the leap and include the practice of cost recovery as part of their agency’s everyday financial strategy.

The Cost Recovery Master Class aims to remove the uncertainties and address the critical elements of sound financial management in parks and recreation. This unique class will provide the tools and methods needed for organizations to achieve long-term sustainability in their communities.

Participating in this Master Class will help you:

Focus on allocating resources to services that meet community needs, not just community demand;

Create an agency action plan to address your fiscal policies, including pricing, capital improvement/asset management and more;

Understand the value of cost of service and its benefit to the community;

Develop an advocacy strategy to educate and inform important stakeholders and/or policy makers about cost recovery and financial stability; and

Position your agency to be resilient and thrive in uncertain economic and political climates.

What the Master Class Looks Like

Day 1 Day 2

Split between two sessions, this day-long workshop and group discussion focuses on the heart of the event’s theme: putting your money where your mission is. This consists of a combination of learning the philosophy and methodologies that make up financial sustainability in parks and recreation, as well as how to apply them in your organization.

The second part of the Cost Recovery Master Class builds on the lessons learned during Day 1 and will take a more in-depth look at specific subsections of sound financial management strategies. This half-day session focuses on the nuts and bolts of implementing and operationalizing your organization’s fiscal approach and utilizing newly available technologies to put theory into practice.

About

Our MissionWe believe in the power of possibility. We want your parks and recreation agency to reach its full potential through strategic thinking, sound management and bold execution. You'll be working with a team that offers solutions tailored to your community.

Our ValuesWe don’t believe in generic, one-size-fits-all solutions. Every project we take on is completed with an emphasis on every organization’s unique perspective and the complex challenges they face every day. When you choose 110%, you’re working with a team that isn’t about what can’t be done – we instill the belief that you can accomplish great things. We pride ourselves on being an ally you can count on throughout each part of the consulting process.

Our VisionMany other parks and recreation consultants make the same mistake: They assume that all organizations, as well as the communities they serve, are the same. We take the opposite point of view and treat each project as an opportunity to position our clients for long-term success. Our job is to go beyond the conventional and promote thinking that leads to action, creating an environment in which improvement, new methods, flexibility and agility are natural occurrences.
