ARTICLE I
Name and Relationships
A. Name
1. This organization shall be known as the Creation Club of ______________(_ _ _).
B. Relationships
1. The Creation Club shall be a student club under the ___________________ Student Association (_ _ _ _ _).
2. The Creation Club shall maintain collegial relations with the Creation Clubs on other campuses.
ARTICLE II
Purposes
The purposes of the Creation Club shall be to:
1. promote an appreciation of God as the Creator,
2. promote an appreciation of our role as caretakers of our earth, and
3. encourage the adoption of a lifestyle consistent with that role.
4. These purposes are understood from a perspective of Seventh-day Adventist Christianity.
ARTICLE III
Membership
A. Membership
1. Membership and officer positions shall be open to all _ _ _ students, who support the purposes of the club.
2. Any membership dues shall be determined by a majority vote of the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE IV
Officers
A. President
1. Shall call and chair the Executive Committee.
2. Shall represent the Creation Club to outside entities in any matter concerning the interest of the club.
B. Secretary/Treasurer
1. Shall keep minutes of all club meetings and generally perform necessary executive secretarial responsibilities as needed.
2. Shall keep all financial records and keep the Executive Committee informed of ongoing financial matters.
3. Shall provide copies of club documents to the Dean of Student's Office.
4. Shall facilitate communication within the club.
C. Pastor
1. Shall oversee and promote the spiritual and religious aspects of the club.
2. Shall assist the editor in obtaining spiritual-based articles.
D. Presentation Coordinator
1. Shall oversee the implementation of all speaker, video, and slide show presentations selected by the Executive Committee.
E. Activity Coordinator
1. Shall oversee the implementation of various club activities selected by the Executive Committee.
F. Health Director
1. Shall direct all health activities of the club.
2. Shall generally promote a healthy lifestyle amongst club membership and club activities.
G. Public Relations Director
1. Shall publicize up-coming events and activities.
2. Shall develop and maintain a contact list of people interested in club activities.
H. Editor
1. Shall oversee all aspects of the development and distribution of the club's newsletter.
2. Shall promote Creation Magazine on campus.
I. Other Officers
1. The Executive Committee may recommend to the club members the creation of new officer positions. Such positions may be created with a 2/3 vote of members at a valid club meeting.
J. Event Coordinator(s)
1. The Executive Committee may appoint ad hoc coordinators for specific events.
K. Faculty Sponsor(s)
1. Shall counsel club members in their plans and activities.
2. Shall ensure that club activities conform to the standards of the University.
3. The faculty sponsor shall be selected by a majority vote of the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE V
Elections
A. Elections shall be held during Spring Quarter.
B. The elections process shall be coordinated by the President with oversight by the faculty sponsor(s).
C. The President shall ensure that the election meeting is adequately advertised to the student body at least two weeks in advance.
D. A simple majority vote of those present at a club meeting called for the purpose of an election will determine the elected officers for the following year.
E. The term of office shall be for one year to start at the beginning of Summer Quarter.
F. Any unfilled position may be filled at a club meeting in the following Fall Quarter.
ARTICLE VI
Removal or Absence of an Officer
A. Reasonable effort must be made by the President to ensure that the officer in question is informed of the time and nature of the meeting.
B. An office may also be determined to be vacant if an officer resigns or otherwise fails to perform the duties of his/her office. Such determination shall be made by a 2/3 majority vote at a valid Executive Committee meeting.
C. An officer may be removed from office by a 2/3 majority vote of members at a valid club meeting.
D. A new individual shall be elected to a vacated position at the club meeting immediately following the meeting where the officer was removed.
ARTICLE VII
Committees
A. Executive Committee
1. Shall consist of the current club officers and any officers-elect.
2. Shall review the progress of all club officers and any standing and ad hoc committees.
3. Shall approve, schedule and oversee all presentations and activities of the club.
B. Other Committees
1. Other standing or ad hoc committees may be appointed as needed by majority vote of the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VIII
Meetings
A. Frequency
1. The President shall call Executive Committee meetings no less frequently than once a quarter.
2. The President shall call club meetings no less frequently than twice a quarter.
B. Quorum
1. A majority of Executive Committee members shall constitute a quorum for official Executive Committee meetings.
2. For a club meeting to be valid, at least 1/3 of club members must be present and at least two members of the Executive committee shall be present.
3. Decisions shall be made a by majority vote of those present at club meetings.
ARTICLE IX
Finance
A. Funds
1. Funds for the Creation Club shall originate from any dues, fund raising activities, and any donations.
2. The quantity and source of funds shall be reported by the Secretary/Treasurer to the Executive Committee and club meetings upon request.
B. Disbursements
1. Allocation of club funds shall be determined by the Executive Committee.
2. Persons authorized to sign checks include the President, Secretary/Treasurer and the faculty sponsor(s)
3. It shall be required that each check be signed by a combination of one of the above officers and one faculty sponsor.
4. All club funds shall be deposited and withdrawn according to the policies of _ _ _ _ _.
ARTICLE X
Amendments
A. Amendments
1. Amendments to the Creation Club constitution may be made by a 2/3 majority vote at an official club meeting.
2. Amendments shall become effective immediately unless otherwise specified.
