WELCOME

Pastor Greg & Tamara Dumas Lead Pastor

Thank you for visiting us today. We are honored that you would consider The Crossing Church as a place for you and your family to come and worship. The Crossing is big enough to serve you but small enough to know you. We do this by encouraging everyone to join a LifeGroup. It is here that people connect with one another through Bible study and fellowship. You can visit our LifeGroup café in the lobby to learn more about both our on-campus and off-campus groups. Something special happens in the lives of believers when they are able to connect with others who are in the same walk of life.

Your Pastor,Greg and Tamara Dumas

AWAKENING

Hebrews 8:10-12 Lead Pastor: Greg Dumas

WELCOME TO THE CROSSING CHURCH

SCRIPTUREHebrews 8:10-12 (NIV) 10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

• The Old Testament was given to keep Israel “under guard” and to demonstrate that the law couldn’t save man from sin.

• The Old Covenant was based on the law; the New Covenant is based on grace that came through the finished work of Jesus Christ.

• What the law couldn’t do in finishing the job of redemption, Christ DID when he died on the Cross to save us from the curse of sin and death.

• Condemnation (from the accuser) leads to fear, and fear leads to stress, and stress leads to a multitude of human suffering.

• The believer (one who is in Christ) is NOW free of ALL condemnation and accusation and free to receive the unmerited favor and grace of God.

OBSERVATION

I. The Right Mind-Set (Matthew 6:9)

• Goodness

• Greatness

• Glory

II. God is a Filler, Not a Forcer (Matthew 6:3-4, 6, 17-18)

• Giving

• Praying

• Fasting

Lord, thank you for the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Thank you for the fact that you didn’t come to condemn the world but to save it. You didn’t come to condemn me but to save me. You died to get to me and you died to love me and you died to give me life. I receive all of your forgiveness and grace, and I know that all of my sin and penalty fell on Jesus. I am forgiven and set free; he was cursed and died on the cross. In light of such great forgiveness and grace, my only response can be affection for you and desire to be in your abiding presence.
