The Daily 5 Our Reading Class Structure: Children choose one of the 5 activities to practice reading skills while the teacher works with individuals or small groups. Read to Self Work on Writing Read to Someone Listen to Reading Word Work Vocabulary Spelling Grammar Focus Lessons Mini-lesson (about 10 minutes) Teaches a strategy, such as: Writing Spelling Reading skill/strategy for the week Vocabulary Grammar Begins each Daily 5 session Strategy Groups Teacher meets with small groups to work on Reading strategies listed on the CAF menu board. Individual Conferences Teacher meets with students individually to discuss writing or work on their reading goals.
