Max, as he is known, has been working with cheese since he was 12 and is now a Master Cheesemaker. Share his passion for cheese as he demonstrates how to make fresh mozzarella and tells us about his latest successes working with farmers to produce the ultimate experience in sheeps’ milk cheeses. New Membership Cards Members should have received the smart new Northern Club membership card for you and your spouse or partner. Creating this card was one way we hoped to make your spouse or partner feel comfortable to use the Club without you being present. The staff are looking forward to welcoming them to the Club. We want partners to feel that they can come and enjoy meals in the Members’ Dining Room or Bankside, enjoy a drink in the Ivy, and feel comfortable to bring friends or colleagues to events. The only limitation on the cards is that reciprocal clubs don’t recognise this card so when travelling, spouse or partners will need to be accompanied by a member. This month has been a wonderful reminder of the benefits of being a member of the Northern Club. Recently a member rang the Club
at round 9.30am to see if it would be possible for the Club to arrange an engagement party that evening. By midday it had become a wedding and within 8 hours they were married at the Club. Some of you may have seen the article in the NZ Herald of the happy couple - Joe Davis and his now wife, Michelle Dickinson also known as Nanogirl. See the great photos on the back of this newsletter.
It was a wonderful example of all hands on deck. The team at the Club led by Nicki de Villiers was able to surprise and delight with the setting. What a feat and what a great example of the lengths that the Club will go to for members.
Earlier in the month a guest from the Harvard Club in New York stayed with us. The guest wrote a note to the Club to let other Harvard Club members know what a lovely spot our Club is.He wrote, “We found it to be a charming club filled with traditional club facilities and decor, punctuated with very modern updates. It is located within walking distance from the middle
of town and most activities. The accommodations were large and very comfortable. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and efficient.” He also mentioned in a letter to the General Manager that special recognition be given to Anita Kesha for completing the reservations over long distances and through many time zones and for making us feel at home upon our arrival. Both these stories are wonderful reminders of the benefits of being a member of a Club and the special qualities of our Club.
