RiverPointe%Napa%Valley%Resort%Art%and%Wine%Event%%June!12Z13,!2014,%Elaine!&!Geoff!Dye!Yes,!June!12th!is!a!Thursday!(Thursday!is!an!unhurried!day!for!Napa!vintners).!For!the!past!7!years,!RiverPointe!Napa!Valley!Resort!has!hosted!an!art!and!wine!event!especially!for!RiverPointe!guests!at!no!charge.!!Local!artists!show!their!work!while!small!wineries!of!Napa!Valley!pour!wine!at!the!resort.!!Marilynn,!the!head!concierge,!has!once!again!asked!SCVT!to!display!our!vintage!vehicles!(any!vintage!car)!at!the!event.!!RiverPointe!is!the!resort!with!the!colorful!treeZlined!cottages!that!accommodated!us!while!we!attended!the!Napa!Valley!car!show!in!August!in!prior!years.!The!wineZpouring!event!is!from!5!p.m.!to!8!p.m.!!Last!year,!17!small!wineries!

Sunny%View%Car%Show!!May!17,!2014,!Al!Thomas!The!1st!Annual!Sunny!View!Car!Show!May!17th!was!a!gigantic!success.!Hosts!Bill!Penrod!and!his!assistant!Rita!Lanoie!and!their!staff!from!the!Sunny!View!Retirement!Community!created!an!event!to!remember.!There!were!45!cars!in!attendance!and!8!Car!Clubs!represented.!The!SCVT!Group!and!VMOA!were!in!a!dead!heat!with!9!cars!apiece.!Since!Bill!Croxton!is!in!both!Clubs,!I!do!not!know!which!Club!to!place!him!in!since!he!brought!a!Corvette?!Also!Ricky!D!brought!his!Buick,!so!I!included!him!in!the!Buick!group.!There!was!a!good!assortment!of!American!and!Foreign!cars!at!the!show.!Just!about!all!American!makes!were!represented,!including!a!Henry!J.!It!was!a!fantastic!weather!day!which!allowed!the!residents!of!the!retirement!
community!to!spend!the!afternoon!looking!at!all!of!the!cars!without!having!to!worry!about!the!heat.!I!heard!a!lot!of!“I!had!one!of!those!once”!or!“I!wish!I!had!one!of!those”!comments.!Cars!started!arriving!at!10:00!AM.!Everyone!was!in!place!by!12:00!noon.!I!want!to!thank!Rich!and!Vicky!Bellum,!Rod!and!Carol!Davison,!Rich!Parker!and!Robert!Wilson!for!assisting!with!placement!of!the!cars.!You!all!did!a!great!job.!I!also!would!like!to!thank!Don!Reisienger!for!supplying!the!map!for!the!attendees!to!use!to!get!to!the!event!site.!Also!a!special!thank!you!to!everyone!who!attended.!Long!distance!award!goes!to!the!San!Francisco!Model!A!Club!for!making!the!trip.!This!was!a!very!unique!car!show.!Not!only!was!it!free!(no!registration!fee)!but!all!of!the!participants!received!lunch!and!Ice!cream!for!dessert.!There!was!plenty!of!water!for!everyone.!If!that!wasn’t!enough,!there!were!3!trophies!presented.!Peoples!Choice!and!Best!of!Show!went!to!Bob!Jacobsen!for!his!immaculate!1934!Pierce!Arrow.!The!winner!of!the!oldest!car!went!to!a!1930!Model!A!Speedster.!I!have!been!told!that!there!well!be!a!2nd!Annual!show!next!year!and!there!is!room!for!another!10!cars.!So!if!you!are!interested,!put!it!on!your!calendar!and!let!me!know!if!you!would!like!to!attend.!Bill!Penrod!did!an!outstanding!job!of!organizing!the!event!and!kept!everyone!informed!and!up!to!date.!He!will!most!likely!give!those!who!attended!this!year!first!shot!at!coming!next!year!so!the!field!will!close!pretty!quickly!I!am!sure.!!

Redwood%City%Freindship%Day!!!May!18,!2014,!Dennis!&!Sandie!Kay!Friendship!Day!is!sponsored!by!Mid!Peninsula!Old!Time!Auto!Club!(MPOTAC),!held!Sunday!May!18th!at!Seaport!Plaza!in!Redwood!City,!was!a!wonderful!way!to!spend!a!day.!!Doors!opened!at!7:30!and!the!show!was!from!9Z2.!!Entrance!fee!was!$15,!free!coffee!and!donuts!included!!!There!were!well!over!400!participants!with!a!great!selection!of!cars.!!The!weather!was!perfect,!BBQ!lunch!was!available!and!there!were!lots!of!shade!and!grass!areas!in!addition!to!a!walking!path!along!the!water.!!Among!the!SCVT!members!were!Georgette!and!Larry!Maness,!Don!Reisinger,!Barry!Moore,!Patrick!and!Tina!Ford,!Jenny!Jump,!Joan!Peterson,!Diana!Mann,!Billy!and!Heather!Mann!(and!Julia),!Dennis!and!Sandie!Kay.!SCVT!in!the!past!has!supported!this!event!and!it!is!well!worth!doing!every!year!now!that!they!have!a!permanent!location.!!%%
Sacramento%Music%Festival!!!May!23Z26,!2014,!Dennis!&!Sandie!Kay!The!Sacramento!Music!Festival!held!mostly!in!Old!Town,!Sacramento!over!Memorial!Day!Weekend!was!attended!by!9!club!members,!Dennis!and!Sandie!Kay,!Bill,!Marsha,!and!James!Croxton,!Paul!Lynch!and!Janette!Adair,!Bob!and!Paula!Lawrence.!!Unfortunately!Jerry!and!Gloria!Goldberg!had!to!cancel!at!the!last!minute.!!Most!of!us!came!for!several!days,!staying!overnight!at!the!Hilton!Garden!Inn,!and!enjoyed!a!variety!of!music.!!There!was!traditional!Blues,!Rock,!Jazz,!Big!Band!Dance,!Cajun!and!Zydeco,!Country,!Ragtime,!and!even!a!Marching!Band!in!the!center!of!Old!Town!Main!Street.!!It!was!warm!in!the!80'sZ90's!during!the!day!and!lots!of!good!food!to!eat!both!in!each!venue!and!along!the!streets.!!The!sets!were!one!hour!each!and!an!easy!walk!from!one!to!another.!!The!music!played!from!11:00!am!until!12:30!am!if!you!cared!to!dance!the!day!and!night!away.!!Many!of!the!venues!had!a!dance!floor!set!up!and!it!was!fun!to!watch!all!the!action.!!Fun!was!had!by!all!!!!!%

You!might!recognize!our!own!Bob%Lawrence.!A!few!members!enjoyed!an!evening!with!the!County%Line%Trio!on!Saturday,!May!17th!at!Angelica’s!in!Redwood!City.!!This!was!a!special!soldZout!performance.!After!a!long,!3!year,!absence,!the!trio!announced!the!return!of!their!musical!partner,!original!member!and!close!friend!Bud!Olsen.!!They!announced!that!their!close!friend,!the!talented!Bob%Lawrence!would!continue!with!the!trio!as!an!equal!partner!in!their!performances.!We!were!delighted!that!Bob!was!recognized!and!we!saw!the!County!Line!Trio!transform!into!the!“quartet”.!If!you!enjoy!the!nostalgic!folk!music!of!the!50’s!and!60’s!we!highly!recommend!the!County!Line!“Trio”!to!take!you!back!in!time!when!music!told!stories!of!love,!protest!and!social!injustice.!!By%Cliff%&%Kathy%Monroe%!

Try!this!one!on!your!Bird.!Lock!your!door!from!the!outside!and!then!push!hard!a!number!of!times!on!the!outside!door!handle!button.!Many!of!you!will!find!that!by!doing!this!your!door!lock!button!will!slowly!work!its!way!upward!until!the!door!is!no!longer!locked.!!
All!TZBirders!should!know!that!it!is!very!easy!to!over!tighten!the!lock!buttons!and!to!do!so!may!allow!the!situation!described!above.!This!is!not!a!problem!of!inaccurate!reproduction!parts.!Our!Birds!came!from!the!factory!this!way.!!The!problem!is!that!when!the!lock!button!is!screwed!onto!the!shaft!too!far!it!limits!the!available!downward!travel!of!the!shaft.!The!result!is!that!the!lock!mechanism!inside!the!door!latch!assembly!is!not!able!to!engage!fully.!!The!good!news!is!that!the!fix!is!simple.!Just!unscrew!the!lock!button!a!few!turns!to!allow!the!shaft!a!bit!more!travel.!!By Bob DePaola Editor Birds Eye View %
