OPERATION
NOTE: Refer to the control box familiarization on page 5 before reading this section.
Loading the Rollstand
Place the piece goods bar through the roll core and secure the bar to the roll. Place the piece goods onto the Rollstand. The shifter groove on the bar must rest on the upright bear-ings for proper operation.
CAUTIONMaximum weight of piece goods roll is 350 lbs. (155 kg) and extreme caution should be used when placing piece goods roll onto the Roll Stand.
Threading
Turn Rollstand edge control box on. Open the Reflector Assembly to disengage the auto edge controls. Press the Automatic Center switch to center the edge control platform. The platform will move to the centered position. Thread the fabric as shown. Close the Reflector Assembly for automatic edge control. Adjust the roll brake as re-quired. The Rollstand is ready for operation. For machines equipped with Power Roll Brake, refer to power brake section for assistance.
Roll Brake
The roll brake is located on the front upright and can be adjusted to produce tension on the fabric roll. Proper ten-sion on roll will reduce unnecessary slack when spreading. To adjust, turn thumb screw clockwise for greater tension or counterclockwise to reduce rolling tension on piece goods roll.
The Eastman Rollstand is shipped partially disassembled with all the necessary parts for proper setup and operation. To get the best performance, familiarize yourself with all functions and adjustments of this equipment. Before any operation can take place, it is important that you carefully read and follow the instructions in this manual in the same sequence in which they are presented.
INSTALLATION
Rollstand InstallationThe Rollstand weighs approx. 300 lbs. ( 136 kg) uncrated for a 66" machine. Wooden braces are strapped across the underside of its cross channels and the forklift arms should be raised to those braces when the machine is lifted.
CAUTIONWhen placing forklift arms under cross channels,
use care not to damage under carriage components.
Place Rollstand at the desired end of spreading table, as shown in the illustration on page 4. The Rollstand should be centered and level with the table. Square the Rollstand to the Blue Jay End Cutter. For proper and accurate edge control operation secure the Rollstand to the table at this time.
Locate the Front and Back Upright Assemblies and secure to the frame with hardware provided.
Mount the edge control box to the operator's side of the table. Connect the Main Control Harness from the bottom of the edge control box to the mating connector located on the Rollstand.
CAUTIONTo avoid damage to the wiring harness, keep
harness clear of material path.
Power ConnectionCheck voltage rating of power cord with electrical rating stamped on the serial number plate. If compatible, connect cord to mating Rollstand connector on the non-operator side of stand.
Note: Voltage varying more than 10% (11v for 110 volt machine, 22v for 220 volt machine) may damage your system's electronics.

1. Automatic Center: Press to center platform. (Open Re-flector Assembly to disengage controls - Table Models Only).

Power Brake
The Power Brake is designed to reduce spreading tension on the fabric roll while spreading and reduce loading time for loading new fabric rolls. The operator switches the pow-er brake Off/On switch to the OFF position to release the brake for loading and switches it ON to resume spreading.
Power Brake Operation
Secure the piece goods roll firmly on the roll bar with the power brake drum. Press the power brake switch, located on the power brake control box, to the OFF position. This will open the brake pads for easy loading. Load the roll onto the uprights, be sure the roll bar shifter sets onto the upright bearings. The brake drum must be centered between the brake pads. Thread the fabric as shown in the threading diagram. Switch the power brake switch to the ON position. The brake pads will close and stop the roll from spinning.
Power Brake Adjustment
Tension and Boost pressure may vary considerably with different fabrics, operators, roll consistency and spreading speeds. Tension and Boost pressures should be monitored during all spreading operations.
TensionThe Tension Pressure and Boost Pressure are adjusted on the power brake control box. To adjust tension pressure, turn off the Blue Jay End Cutter. Thread the fabric as shown in the threading diagram. Remove the fabric loop from in front of the boost sensor. Turn the tension knob clockwise to increase tension pressure or counterclockwise to decrease tension pressure. Lightly turn the fabric roll by hand while adjusting tension pressure. The tension pressure can also be set while spreading.
BoostTo adjust boost pressure, place fabric loop in front of the boost sensor. The boost sensor is now activated. Slowly turn the fabric roll by hand. Adjust the boost tension knob clockwise to increase tension pressure or counterclock-wise to decrease tension pressure. Adjust until desired boost pressure is achieved. The boost pressure can also be set while spreading.
Fine Adjustment
The Power Brake Fabric Sensor is located below the roll-stand chute assembly. The sensor adjustments are set at the factory but may require fine adjustment to meet your particular spreading needs.
Open the clear sensor cover for access to sensitivity ad-justment screw and dark/light switch. Thread the fabric for normal operation. Loop the fabric in front of the sensor beams as shown. Adjust the sensitivity screw to activate the boost braking power when the fabric crosses both beams. The three sensor activity lights will activate when the beam senses the fabric. The light/dark switch is nor-mally set on the dark setting for most fabrics.
Helpful Hints
The maximum boost pressure is activated when:
A) The blue jay clamp is closed.
B) When the fabric loop crosses the sensor beams.
C) Incorrect boost sensor adjustment. The boost sen-sor senses the blue jay track and chute assembly. See fine adjustments.

Technical DataEASTMAN® Rollstand
Limited Warranty. Eastman warrants to the buyer that the Rollstand shall be free from defects in ma-terials or workmanship for a period of 180 days commencing on the date of invoice. Any goods or parts claimed by the buyer to be defective must be returned to Eastman, freight charges prepaid, within the 180-day warranty period. If Eastman determines that the goods or parts are defective in materials or workmanship, Eastman’s sole obligation under this warranty shall be, at Eastman’s sole option, to repair or replace the defective goods or parts or to provide the buyer a credit equal to the portion of the pur-chase price allocable to the defective goods or parts. This warranty shall not apply if defects are caused by product misuse or neglect, if the machine has been altered or modified by the buyer, or if other than genuine Eastman belts, emery wheels, knives or parts are used in the machine. THIS WARRANTY IS THE ONLY WARRANTY APPLICABLE TO THIS PURCHASE. SELLER DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WAR-RANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Limitation of Liability. Eastman’s liability to the buyer, and the buyer’s remedies from Eastman, whether in contract, negligence, tort, under any warranty or otherwise, shall be limited to the remedies provided in the foregoing Limited Warranty. In no event shall Eastman have any responsibility or liability to the buyer for (a) any special, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including, but not limited to, loss of use, revenue, or profit, even if Eastman has been advised of the possibility of such damages, or (b) any claim against the buyer by any third party. The price stated for the product sold is a consideration for limiting Eastman’s liability.
