The Client Experience: An Investment Policy Statement

Adoption of Investment Policy

We have reviewed the investment policy statement, understand the strategy and agree on the

implementation of the plan. Should your own personal circumstances change, please let us

know so that we can advise if any recommended changes should be made. Future changes to

the investment policy, when applicable, will be mutually agreed up and a revised investment

policy statement will be generated for your signatures.

Investment Policy Statement

Client Summary: Jane and John live in Oakland, California. Jane has accepted the early retirement packagefrom the Exploratorium where she has worked for 28 years. John has been retired from theCalifornia State Library for 20 years. After many years of handling the family finances, Johnhas relinquished this role to Jane.There are medical problems for both of them which may ultimately limit their ability to keepup with their finances without professional assistance. They would like to reduce the risk intheir portfolios and make sure there is enough income from their pensions, personalinvestments and retirement accounts to afford them a comfortable lifestyle without worry.

Growth Portfolio Objective: Jane and John have an investment time horizon of five to ten years, and we believe they havean average to below average risk tolerance. This also is based on the knowledge that Jane andJohn appear to have enough assets to match their long-term needs. Elmwood will thusmanage the portfolio assets with an income and growth objective.
