The Encourager FBC, Plattsburg “Making Jesus First in Our Lives” May,2018 Church Office (816) 539-2510 Church Office after hours and Forwarding (816) 399-3908 PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE: by Robert Shelton We enjoy so many good things that are not our own doing. As people we tend to take credit for things we are not responsible for and fail to admit responsibility for things we have actually done. There is NO doubt - God has blessed you and me. Yes, we still have problems and our share of things we hoped had not happened but we are blessed! We live in a nation-though far from perfect-that God has abundantly blessed and used to bless others. I invite you to participate in this Thursday’s National Day of Prayer event. Thank Him for His goodness to us and invite Him to continue to work in and among us here in America. MUSIC: by Sandy Shelton, worship leader Psalm 118:1 says: “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.” We sing a song that comes directly from this Scripture. Isn’t this truth comforting? God’s love for you will NEVER end! We also shouldn’t forget the first part of the Scripture: we are to “give thanks to the Lord.” Let’s make it a priority to remember to give Him thanks in all things! I am so thankful for all the songs we have to praise and glorify God! Looking forward to seeing you in worship each Sunday! God Bless! YOUTH: by Aaron Gudde, youth minister I want to thank everybody that came and supported the youth with their dinner theatre play “The Bible in 30 Minutes or Less.” I was unfortunately unable to be there that night but have heard great things about the night. A big thank you also needed for the Youth Steering Committee for all of the help they put into the night to make it a success. It was a fun play to work with and reminded us of the importance of understanding God’s word. Upcoming summer activities and dates: Church Camp forms for Camp Life and Super Summer registration forms need to be turned in Sunday, April 29 th . Late fees will apply if we don’t get the forms turned in on time. The dates for those are May 29 th -June 2 for Grand Oaks, and June 11-15 th for Super Summer. The Craft Day fundraiser has been scheduled for Saturday, June 9 th from 9 am to 9 pm. For $40 you receive an 8 ft table, lunch and dinner to work on whatever you want. Students will be there to serve you and help carry any materials you might have. If you have questions, see Teresa Scrivens or myself about this event. Mission trip plans are being finalized, barring any unforeseen changes, we will be traveling north to Reach Church in Ypsilanti, MI to help Pastor Jason Robinson and others with their church plants in the Suburban Detroit area. Dates for mission trip training will be out soon. PRESCHOOL NEWS: by Debbie Smith, director Our Preschool Spring and Graduation Programs will be on Saturday, May 12 at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. The final enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year was 46.
