THE END Daniel 12 Dr. David Jeremiah I. The Prophecies of the End Daniel 12:1-3 A. Israel Will Be Ravaged Daniel 12:1 When the prophet Daniel says “at that time,” he is referring to the horrors that will be unleashed on the earth in the breaking of the seals, the blowing of the trumpets, and the emptying of the bowls of judgment described in Revelation 6–19. B. Israel Will Be Rescued Daniel 12:1 In Daniel 12:1, the names written in the book are godly Jews, the believing remnant on the Earth at the end of the Tribulation. Those left at the end of that time will be a righteous nation that will reign with Him for a thousand years in His Kingdom on the earth. C. Israel Will Be Resurrected Daniel 12:2 The important point in Daniel 12 has to do with the resurrection of those who die during the Tribulation Period as a result of their faithfulness to the Lord. John tells us in Revelation 20 that these martyrs will be raised up at the end of the Tribulation Period. D. Israel Will Be Rewarded Daniel 12:3 The word wise in this verse is describing teachers. These faithful teachers will “shine like the brightness of the firmament . . . and like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:3).

THE END Daniel 12

Dr. II. The End of the Prophecies Daniel 12:4-13 Daniel 12:4-13 is the conclusion to the entire book, and in these verses Daniel confesses that he doesn’t understand much of what God has said (Daniel 12:8). What an encouragement for us! If Daniel didn’t understand it all, we don’t need to feel incompetent that we don’t either. A. Final Discussions with the Angels Daniel 12:5-12

1. The Discussion about Time Daniel 12:5-7

2. The Discussion about Tribulation Daniel 12:8-12

B. Final Directions to Daniel Daniel 12:4, 9, 13

1. He Is Instructed to Protect the Prophecy Daniel 12:4 Daniel was told to seal up the prophecy—but not so that no one could read it. He was told that the prophecy was for the end times and that it must be secured so it would be available when it was needed most.

2. He Is Instructed to Proceed with His Life Daniel 12:9 The angel told Daniel not to waste time delving more deeply into these prophecies; they simply wouldn’t be fully understood until they came to pass. In the meantime, Daniel had his own work to do; He was to accept the mystery of what he had been given and get on with his life.

3. He Is Instructed to Prepare for the Future Daniel 12:13 Daniel lived a long and productive life. But as we come to the end of his story, it’s apparent that for him, as it should be for any follower of Christ, the best is yet to come.
