The Endless Column is “like an eternal song which brings us to the infinite of a beyond” (Hulten et al, Brancusi 1986, p. 230). Here, the genius of Brancusi and his artistic vision have created the first symbolic sculpture ever done being integral part of his revolutionary approach in modern sculpture. The Endless Column is “like an eternal song which brings us to the infinite of a beyond” (Hulten et al, Brancusi 1986, p. 230). Here, the genius of Brancusi and his artistic vision have created the first symbolic sculpture ever done being integral part of his revolutionary approach in modern sculpture. Yet, few know that this splendid Brancusi’s monument has a structural design based on engineering calculations. The author is the engineer Stefan Georgescu Gorjan who also recorded a photographic reportage of this 1938 adventure.
