If all the trees are gone. No life will exist. Our place in the world might be in jeopardy. Oxygen will be lost.

The earth is all we have. Destroy it & we will also perish.

Care for the environment contrasted with our destroying it. What about a balance.

If the earth were only a few feet in diameter people would come from all over to marvel at it. To see the islands & rain…

If the earth were this small, people might appreciate it a bit more.

If we choose the wrong path, it is the face of innocence that must struggle with that which is left behind. More than 5,000 species become extinct every year - a rate 10,000 times faster than pre-human extinction rates. Half of the forests that originally covered 46% of the Earth's land surface are gone. Here, innocence is wrapped in a faded purple blanket - a symbol of our diminishing prosperity and depleted legacy. What will our legacy be?

We can't live without it: air. And yet, one fifth of the world's population breathes air more poisonous than the World Health Organization recommends as healthy. The ozone layer is thin and getting worse. Its depletion can damage agriculture and marine life, and cause an epidemic of skin cancer. Transportation, industry and manufacturing are some of the main factors causing greenhouse gases to rise by one third since the industrial revolution. But there is much that each of us can do. If every US commuter carried just one more passenger, for example, air pollution would drop by 12 million pounds a year. Other options include using cleaner technologies and changing our energy and transportation habits.

Overpopulation

Over population will lead to disaster.

It is believed that now in 2006 one person dies every three seconds from starvation. We can expect that figure to increase as the world population goes up.

If Christians believe that God gave them responsibility to care for the world then they must be moved to do what is right. It cannot be right to stand by and see the world ignore its own people increase in population only to die from starvation and malnutrition. Or maybe the fact that so much of the physical world will be spoiled it will not matter that the fate of the inhabitants of the world will be.

If God was a caring being them people must be as well. This is the basic teaching of Christianity.So let us hope that humanity will stop millions of people dying slowly from starvation.

Disposal of Rubbish

2. We create tons of rubbish. It has to go somewhere. We bury it in the earth. This produces gas.

What we do with our rubbish shows what sort of a society we are.
