Message from the Padre
This weekend, we are celebrating the Feast of “The
Epiphany of the Lord.” Our Sunday Gospel from Matthew gives
us the Story of the Three Magi or commonly known to many as the
Three Wisemen or the Three Kings.
These Three Wisemen followed the brilliant star in the sky
that led them to the Child Jesus. To them, the light of the star was
a symbol of hope, joy and peace that awaited them at the end of
their journey. And for us, the light of the star is a reminder to us
that we too are called to be a light in the world. Being enlightened
by that guiding star and the Light of God in our hearts, we are called to go forward and share with others the
Good News of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This week, let us reflect upon the Light of Christ that has come upon us, and just like the Three
Wisemen, let us pay our homage to the Child Jesus Our Savior. And may this child’s promise of love and
redemption be large enough to bring us comfort, love and peace this coming year.
Fr Joe
“We make a living by what we earn. We make a life by what we share.”
Thank you for your generous support of our parish
We are still receiving Christmas donations. We will post the final total in the bulletin in the coming weeks.

The Epiphany of the Lord Isaiah 60: 1-6, Ephesians 3: 2-3a, 5-6
Matthew 2: 1-12
The refrain for our responsorial psalm
sets the tone for today’s readings: “Lord,
every nation on earth will adore you.” Saint Paul takes up the
message: The Gentiles are co-heirs and co-partners in the
promise. Isaiah proclaims that “nations shall walk by your
light.” Did the Magi come all that way just to see a little baby?
No, they came to see the salvation of the world. Let us allow
these readings today to broaden our horizons so that we see
God everywhere, and learn to show God to everyone in our
lives.

In the Christian tradition, the word "epiphany"
means manifestation or revelation. It is the story
of the revelation of God and of God's love in the
child Jesus born of a virgin named Mary. This
revelation is meant for all people, and how won-
derful it is that God's love is revealed to everyone...everywhere
in this world. As God reveals himself, let us remember Mary, the
Mother of God, by praying the Rosary each day while we are
searching, seeking and looking for the radiance and brightness
of God in our lives. The Holy Father’s
Prayer Intentions January 2017
Christian Unity - That all Christians
may be faithful to the Lord’s teaching by striving with
prayer and fraternal charity to restore ecclesial commun-
ion and by collaborating to meet the challenges facing
humanity.
Lord God, Almighty Father, creator of
mankind and author of peace, as we are
ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty
we possess, we ask you to bless the mem-
bers of our armed forces. Give them cour-
age, hope and strength. May they ever
experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate
healing. Be their power and protector, leading them from dark-
ness to light. To you be all glory, honor and praise, now and
forever. Amen
Please pray for the men and women now serving in the
military, especially the loved ones of our parishioners:
Congratulations!
