Please remember the church bake sale when you see things that could make for a special way to package your baked goods for the sale in December. We may include some "new" food items this year, so be thinking of what you can bring.

Second Sunday Series Starts September 13th

Social Media Made Easy

Social media is easier than you think. We will look at Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Learn what they can do for you and how you can be up and going the same day. Dr. Frank Buck has presented to national confer-ences, school systems, and civic organizations about telling their stories and staying in touch through social me-dia. Join us September 13 at 9:15 in the Sunshine Room.

Talking to Children About Tough Topics

At the same time, parents of young children are encouraged to meet at 9:15 in the EYC Room. Kathy Lounsbury, a lifelong educator, most recently the Director of the Child Development Center at Canterbury UMC, will offer sugges-tions on how to answer your children's questions about death and dying, whether a beloved pet, grandparent, or friend. This will be the first in a series about addressing children's concerns in an age-appropriate, sensitive and comforting way.

Ascension Hits the Road!

We will be taking an exciting daylong bus trip on Saturday, September 19th, touring the FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals. FAME is the subject of the recent acclaimed documentary "Muscle Shoals" (available on Netflix). From the '60s un-til today, artists such as Lynyrd Skinner, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Etta James, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Tim McGraw, etc.recorded hits with the country's finest studio musicians and songwriters. Following the tour, we will travel to Big Bob Gibson's In Decatur for some award-winning bar-b-que. The tour can accommodate 40 people. Cost of Tour:$10, bus $22.50=$32.50 per person. Lunch is extra. For more info, or to sign up, please email or call/text Eileen Epstein: [email protected]; (205) 223-4731
