What does Erasmus Mundus offer?

Action 1: European Joint Master and Doctoral Programmes - including scholarships

Action 2: Partnerships with non-European higher education institutions and scholarships for students and academics

Action 3: Projects to promote higher education worldwide (Attractiveness Projects: Studies, Alumni Association, Information activities)

What is an EM Joint Programme?

An integrated programme at masters (60 to 120 ECTS) or doctoral (3 to 4 years) level

Jointly designed, delivered and managed by a consortium of HEIs representing at least 3 different EU/EEA states and, optionally, non EUR HEIs

It includes a mandatory mobility component

It is fully recognized and leads to the award of a double, multiple or joint degree

It aims at attracting the best students, doctoral candidates and scholars, worldwide

It offers full study scholarships to EU and non-EU nationals (students, doct.candid., scholars)

Erasmus Mundus Action 2 - Cooperation

Partnerships between higher education institutions in EU and third countries in a specific region

Countries/ regions covered by the EU‘s external co-operation instruments

Erasmus-style cooperation mechanisms, transfer of know-how

Definition of priorities according to the needs of third countries involved

Erasmus Mundus Action 2 - Mobility

Scholarships of varying length (1 month to 3 years)

Bachelor, Master, Doctorate students, PostDocs and HE staff (training, teaching, research activities)

Mobility not linked to specific programmes

Special attention paid to socio-economically disadvantaged groups and populations in a vulnerable situation

Erasmus Mundus Action 2 – Shape & Finance

Composition

• At least 5 european HEIs from at least 3 EU countries

• At least 1 HEI from each country of the lot (S1)

• At least 3 HEIs from two countries of the lot (S2)

Maximum eligibility period: 48 months

Partnership management flat rate = 10.000 € x number of partners (max. 200.000 €)

Individual scholarships using flat rates cover

• Travel

• Susbsistance costs

• Fees

• Insurance and visa costs

5 possible levels of higher education

Variable length mobility

• 1 – 36 months for both degree-seeking and other students

3 target groups

• Target Group 1: students/staff from partner institutions

• Target Group 2: other nationals from third countries

• Target Group 3: nationals of third countries in lot in vulnerable situations
