Welcome to the easyprint help document. This document explains all features of the application and leads you step for step through the creation of an easyprint label.

1 System requirements

1.1 Internet BrowserYou can run easyprint with every available Internet browser. Additionally Adobe Flash Player has to be installed on your computer. You can download the actual Flash Player here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer for free. 1.2 Acrobat ReaderWith easyprint you create a document in PDF format. You need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print it. here you can download the actual Acrobat Reader http://get.adobe.com/reader for free.

2 Registering, logging in and my account

2.1 Why register?As a registered user you have the possibility to save your designs online. So you have access to all of your designs from any computer at any time.

Furthermore you can create folders and manage your designs accordingly.

2.2 How to register?Click on “Login/Register” on the buttom right hand corner. You are asked if you want to register or to log in. Click on “Register”..

On the registration screen: enter here your data and password. Fields marked * are mandatory.

The so called “Captcha” is a security measure that ensures only you are logged in to your account. enter the letter combination in the field “enter Captcha”. Read the privacy policy (opens in a new window) and tick the appropriate box. Afterwards click on “Register”.

2.3 Logging inAfter you have registered you can log in by entering your email address and password.

2.4 My AccountAfter registering and logging in you can use additional features on “My account”.

2.4.1 Creating folders and managing filesYou can create folders to find and manage your documents easily.

To create a new folder, click on “My account” and then click on “New folder”..

To make some changes to folders, click on “My account”, choose the appropriate folder in the menu and click on “Change folder”.

In this menu you have the possibility to rename or delete the chosen folder. You only can delete the folder, if there are no files in the folder.

By clicking on a file in the menu, you can save it to another folder. This file appears in a new window so you can choose any folder and click on “Save”.

2.4.2 Saving designs online and recallingIf you want to save a document, you have the possibility to save the document on your local hard disc and / or online on the esselte Leitz server. If you save your document online you have access from every computer with internet access to recall your data.

To save a document online, select step 3 ‘Print and Save’, then select ‘Save Online’. A new small window opens where you need to enter the label name, the folder it’s saved into and you can edit the default description.

To recall a document that has been saved online, click “My account”. Choose the appropriate folder and file in the new menu. The chosen file now appears in a new window. Click on “Open file” to open the file, here you can rework the design and or print.

3 Leitz Easyprint – Functions and operation

3.1 Choose a productThere are several possibilities to create a new label

3.1.1 The product carrouselClick on the product carrousel and choose the desired product (image 1). Move your mouse left or right over the products to rotate the carrousel in the respec-tive direction. As soon as the desired product appears, click on it. The product then will appear on the left hand side of the screen, and all corresponding ea-syprint labels appear in the product carrousel on the right hand side (Image 2). Also here you can go through all labels by moving the mouse (right or left from the carrousel). Choose the label you want to create a design for and click on it. If you want to choose another product, click on “Change product” at the top right hand side. Then the product carrousel appears again. If you have decided on an easyprint template, click on “New document”. You then will be led to step 2.

3.1.2 Choosing a product from the listWith “New Design” you can choose the desired document and label from a list. Therefore click on the appropriate product name. All available easyprint labels for this product are listed on the right hand side of the product name. Choose here the template you want to rework. The chosen label will then be shown in the product carrousel. With a click on “Change product” you can return back to the product carrousel at any time.

3.1.3 Choosing the label by article numberIf you know the exact product name of your label, you can search for it with the help of the code search. Simply enter the exact code into the search field and click on “Search”. You will find the code number on the packaging of your pro-duct or on the label sheet itself.

3.1.4 Opening a fileIf you have already saved an easyprint template on your computer online, you can upload this with one click on “Upload local file” and you can continue wor-king on it online.

You also can open files that you already have created and saved online in “My account”. Within My Account select from the list of folders and select the desired label file, this opens a new window from which select ‘Open file’. The appropriate file now appears in the design mode where you can rework it or print it.

You can use predefined templates for some products which are already in the easyprint website. After you have chosen your desired label, if predefined temp-lates are available then you will see them under the ‘Template’ section displayed as small thumbnails. Clicking on one of these automatically applies the design to your label, you are free to change, save and print.

3.2 Create a labelThe new screen offers you all features you need for creating an easyprint label. What you see on your screen is printed exactly the same.

Tip: You can choose several backgrounds for your label. Furthermore you can with the “Format button” rotate the complete label by 90°.

3.2.1 The tool list

1 Select tool: here you select and move objects. If you don´t click on another tool, this is the default tool.

2 Hand tool: here you can move the label. This is important if you for example want to zoom really closely into a design and change the smallest detail. 3 Zoom out tool: here you can zoom out from your design. Select your tool and

then click to the section in your design that you want to zoom out from. 4 Zoom in tool: here you can zoom in closer. 5 Grid tool: For simplifying the alignment of objects you can overlay a grid. As

soon as you move an object, it will be aligned to the grid automatically.

3.2.2 Shortcuts and right mouse button

With shortcuts you can facilitate or accelerate the working process. The appropriate functions can be done either by shortcuts or the right mouse button.Cut, Ctrl X: This will cut an object (an image or text). It’s cut from the label, but remains saved in memory, until you copy or cut another object. You can paste objects from the memory at any time with Ctrl V.Copy, Ctrl C: This will copy an object to the memory to allow it to be pasted else where with Ctrl V. The copied object is remaining on the label.Paste, Ctrl V: This will allow you to paste a previously cut or copied objects to the label. You also can add copied objects to another label.Delete, Delete button: With this shortcut you can delete objects.Choose all, Ctrl A: This will allow you to choose all objects at the same time.With a press of the Shift key you can add single objects to a selection. Also clicking the right button of the mouse brings up many of the above options.

3.2.3 Attaching an object and working on itWith easyprint you can place text fields, images and graphics on your label, move, rotate and work on them. If you stay for a moment with your mouse on a feature or command, a short ‘tool tip’ will be presented on the screen.

3.2.3.1 Attaching a text field and working on itClick on “text” in the configuration menu. A text field appears on your label so that you can input text. The bottom menu changes to allow further text configurations. Simply enter a text. The text appears in the text field immediately. If you want to enlarge or make the text smaller, there are two possibilities:Mark the text (double-click on the text) and adjust the font size in the text configuration menu. enter another numeric in the menu and press the enter key on your keyboard. The second option is to select the text and scale the text by moving one of the four corners.

The colour of text, font type, font format and alignment can be adjusted in the text configuration menu as well.You can move a text field by clicking on it with the select tool (Arrow-Tool) and move it by dragging with your mouse.

3.2.3.2 Inserting an image and working on itYou can create an easyprint label with its own image. You can upload an image form your hard drive by clicking on menu item “Image” and then clicking “Upload image”. Afterwards the image can be scaled, moved or rotated etc.

You also can use easyprint pictures for your design. Click the dropdown menu on “easyprint pictures” and you get a choice of images. You can choose one or more of these images per mouse click, insert it to your label layout and for example you can use these as background images.

3.2.3.3 Inserting a graphic and working on itYou also can insert graphics to your design. There are two types of graphics provided. Pre-created easyprint graphics and geometrical shapes.You can choose pre-created graphics from our collection. With one click you can insert the graphics to your design. Like with images, you can change, scale or move graphics.

Geometrical shapes can be inserted via one click on the rectangle, circle or line icon. The colour can be changed by clicking one of the colour fields or entering an RGB or hexadecimal value. You can change the size of the object by stretching it from its corners. The object can be rotated by dragging with your mouse the round symbol on the top right hand corner of the object. You can rotate and click at each 15 degree intervals if you choose by using the shift key at the same time.

3.2.4 Scaling an objectClick and pull an object (text field, image, graphic) at its small square corners. The object will be scaled accordingly.

You also can scale an object with the adaption tool. The horizontal adaption tool adjusts the object on its entire width of the label. The vertical adaption tool ad-justs the object on the height of the label.

3.2.5 Rotating an objectYou can rotate every text field, image and graphics. Select the appropriate object with the Select tool (Arrow tool) and using your mouse drag the round symbol on the top right hand corner of the object. You can rotate with indexing at each 15 degree intervals if you choose by using the shift key at the same time. You can rotate through 90 degrees by using either the 90 degree clockwise or anti-clockwise buttons.

3.2.6 Deleting an object There are two ways to delete an object. Firstly choose the object that you want to delete, at the same time it is marked in the layer-menu. Clicking on the waste bin symbol or selecting the delete key on your keyboard will pop-up a message asking you if you are sure you want to delete it. Confirming with yes will delete the object.

3.2.7 Adjusting the position of an objectThere are several ways you can adjust the position of an object:

- You can adjust the object manually by selecting it and using your mouse dragging it to another position.– You can adjust the object with the help of the grid. Click on the grid tool. A grid

appears on the label. If you move your object it snaps automatically on the line.– You can adjust the object with the adjustment tool. Select the object you want

to align and click on the adjustment pallet in the desired direction. “Adjust object top left hand side” always adjusts the object on the top left hand side of the object.

3.2.8 Moving an object to the foreground or backgroundIf you create a new object, it’s always on the top of the layer order. You can change the order of an object in the layer by clicking the object you want to move to the foreground or background, selecting the appropriate layer in the layer menu by clicking it with your mouse and then dragging it to another position in the layers.

highlighting the clip art from within the layer list and dragging it to the top position moves the clipart to the foreground.

3.2.9 Creating Easyprint labels, single labels or all the sameWith one click on “Same design” you can copy over the design of one label to all other labels on your sheet. If you want to create many different labels on your sheet of labels, keep the setting on “Single design”. The preview shows a miniature version of your actual label print sheet

Note: If you want to copy parts of the design to another label you can use the copy function (see 3.3.3. Shortcuts and right mouse button)

3.3 Save and print

3.3.1 Save a fileYou can save a draft of a label, local or online and rework it again later. We recommend saving each draft that you have designed, so you can make changes and adjustments later quick and easily.

To save a draft, click in the menu on “Print and save” and then “Save local” or “Save online”.

Save file local: Choose a file name in the menu, choose also a folder to save it to and click on “Save”. Thereupon an ePR file is saved on your local computer, you can recall the label each time you require it with easyprint to rework or print (see 3.1.4)

Save online: You can enter a file name, choose a folder and add a description text. Thereupon and ePR file is saved online. You can load and rework this file any time with easyprint (“My account”, see 2.4)

3.3.2 Creating and printing a printable PDFTo print a draft, you first have to create a printable PDF. Therefore click on “Print”.

A pop-up message appears to inform you that Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to check the PDF. At http://get.adobe.com/reader you can download the programme for free. If you want to delete this, click on the X in the top right hand side of the pop up, to close the window. If you have installed Adobe Acrobat Reader and you want to generate a PDF of your draft, click on “Print”.

Click on “Open” on the menu that now appears. The PDF will open on to your screen and you can now print using the normal route of clicking the printer icon or selecting menu option ‘file’ and then ‘print’.

3.3.3 Printing a labelTo adjust the label exactly on the sheet, please check the following print align-ment in Acrobat Reader: The “print adjustment“ in the print screen on “Page alignment” has to be deactivated respectively be “none”.

Please check the print direction when you insert the label sheet in the printer. If you don´t know which way round to insert the label sheet, we suggest you first make a test print on normal blank paper.
