Focusing on build-ing muscles, confidence, endurance and a desireto achieve a goal of be-ing champions broughtthisgroupbackdayafterday, evenwithmoansandgroansfillingtheroomforthefirstweekoftraining. But as each girl realizedwhat they were accom-plishing in only a fewweeks they were hungryformoreintensifiedwork-outs. 25 pushups, 25 sit-ups,25dips, thedreaded“circle”, weighted ball, duck walks, the agil-ityladder,conesoverandoverforanhourandhalfwith only a three minutebreak. Don’t feel sorryforthemtheygottorestabunch…...inthepushupposition. Theylaidontheirtum-mies and backs in whatwas called the SUPER-MAN; as they mimicflying and swimming.
Wednesdays were veryspecial and received thelabel “BURNOUT,” aseverything was done atsupermanspeed. The girls would showup the next day flexingarmmuscles, legmusclesand walking with swag-ger with their heads heldhigh. Each day of super-manworkoutwouldbringthem closer to the startof practice. A day theyeagerly awaited and anx-iouslyanticipated. Practicedayfinallyar-rived;only tobeheld in-doors because of all therainy weather we wereexperiencing. Actually,“MotherNature,”showedher strength quite oftenthis season as 14 gameswere rained out.
