YOUNG CHEFS ACADEMY—SJS Junior Girl Scouts
~Grace Ann McCurdy, Emily Adams, Caroline Simms
On Friday the 13th the 3rd grade Junior Girl
Scouts weren’t being superstitious - they were making pizzas! At Young Chefs Academy in Bossier City, Troop 68 Junior Girl Scouts made pizzas on a Girl Scout field trip. They learned safety rules such as: Don’t leave what your cooking unattended, wear close fitting sleeves when cooking and be alert. Also they learned how to treat burns. They made the pizza dough. While making the dish they had yeast rising. So at the end they got to see the yeast all the way raised.
• After the dough was made, they got to start making the pizza. They got to place the amount wanted of tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni. The pizzas cooked for about 10-15 minutes. Voila! The pizzas were ready! Each Girl Scout got a 4 piece pizza made just the way they like it!

Dear Caroline,Two of my friends were fighting and they have done it a lot over the pasttwo years. They get mad at each other for stupid reasons and they hold agrudge for a long time and they don't stop until my friends and I threaten to not talk to them. What should I do? I don't want to hurt either of their feelings by being on one person's side, and I've had just about had enough of their fighting.Sincerely,Trapped
Dear Trapped,
I had a problem just like that with two of my best friends. They carriedon and on about the other person until I felt like I was about to burst. So I tried asking one of most trustworthy people I know, my mom, to help me and she told me that I should tell them how I felt and that I should not take anyone's side. I did what she told me and it really worked. I hope this helps to solve your problem and don't hesitate to send me more letters, if you have anymore problems.
Best of Wishes,Caroline

I think Facing the Giants is an amazing movie.
Some girls might think it is just a plain old movie
about football. I have watched this movie, and I
think that it is much, much more than football. It is
about a man who preaches and teaches his football
team about having faith and trust in God. As he goes
through hardships in his life, he always loves God.
He straightens out problems with relationships
between families, makes his team closer to God, and
finally, his wife gets pregnant after a long time of
waiting for a baby. A good quote from the movie is,
“If we win, we praise the Lord. If we lose, we praise
the Lord.“ Finally, his team wins a big victory against
a big, unbeatable team called the Giants. I think it is
a great movie for Catholics to reflect on and to really
think about how much God means to us.
Dear KP,
2 people are acting like they are the smartest kids in the
class or 3rd grade. What should I do about it?
From,
Third Grader
Dear 3rd Grader,
Bragging isn’t a good thing to do. Ignore them
and focus on your OWN grades rather than theirs.
Love, KP
Dear KP,
I have a problem letting people walk all over me. They’re
really mean and rude. What should I do?
Sincerely,
I Don’t Know What to Do
Dear I Don’t Know What to Do,
If somebody says or does something to you, either ignore them or try and talk to them calmly. Don’t fight back! That just makes it worse. If they, again, bully you, you should go to an adult. Remember, you must always realize why they are mean to you. Good Luck!
Love,
KP

This week’s teacher is a homeroom teacher in the middle school. She has taught for two years here at SJS, but has been teaching for twelve years overall. Her first school to teach at was St. Bernard.
She went to high school at Breaux Bridge High School, and college first at USL in Lafayette, then to LSUS. Who is she?
