Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India is
proposing to bring some amendments in the provisions of the Pre-
conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex
Selection)(Six Months Training) Rules 2014. A copy of proposed
amendments is enclosed herewith.
The view/ suggestion from the stakeholder and general public is
solicited and the same may be sent through email on sopndt-
mohfw(Enic.in on or before 146 AuEust 2018.

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE SIX MONTHS TRAINING RULES, 2014

Rule 6 Eligibility for training.-( I ) Any registered medical
practitioner shall be eligible forundertaking the said six monthstraining.
(2) The existing registered medical
practitioners. who are conducting
ultrasound procedures in a Genetic
Clinic or Ultrasound Clinic or
Imaging Centre on the basis of one
year experience or six month
training are exempted from
undenaking the said train ing
provided they are able to qualifu the
competency based assessment
specified in Schedule ll and in case
of failure to clear the said
competency based exam, theY shall
be required to undertake the
complete six months training, as
provided under these rules, for the
purpose of renewal of registrations.
Eligibility for taining- (I) Anyregistered medical practitioner shall be
eligible for undertaking the said sixmonths training.
(2) The existing registered medical
practitioners, who are conducting
ultrasound procedures in a Genetic
Clinic or Ultrasound Clinic or Imaging
Centre on the basis of one Year
experience or six month training are
exempted from undertaking the said
training provided they are able to
qualifu the competency based
assessment as Per the sYllabus
specified in Schedule II except the los
@! and in case of failure to clear the
said competency based exam after two
attempts, they shall be required to
undertake the complete six months
training, as provided under these rules,
for the purpose of renewal ofregistrations.
Rule 7 Accreditation of institutions lor sixmonths training and itsrecognition.- ( l) The follor.ringteaching institutions would be
accredited as training centres toimpart the six months training

Rule 8 Seleclion of students.- (l) The
selection and intake of registeredmedical practitioners lor admissionto such trainings shall be on the
basis of the following criteria:
a) Intake for admission to such
trainings shall be 1:1 teacher tostudent ratio.
b) Selection shall be as per themerit list of the State postgraduate entrance exam.
c\ 20 o/o reservation lor in servicecandidates.
Selection of students.- ( I ) The selection
and intake of registered medicalpractitioners for admission to such
trainings shall be on the basis of thefollowing criteria:

e) Selection shall be as per the merit listof the State Post Graduate EntranceExam ryry-i!Isr-3!p.ps!4,!smerit recoqnised bv the state.

Rule 9 Changed crileria to be madeprospective,- These rules shallcome into force with immediateeffect in case of new registrations.However, all registered medicalpractitioners employed in a
Genetic Clinic or Ultrasound
Changed criteria to be madepruspective.- These rules shall comeinto force with immediate effect incase ofnew registrations. However, allregistered medical practitionersemployed in a Genetic Clinic orUltrasound Clinic or lmaging Centre
Clinic or Imaging Centre on thebasis of one year experience or sixmonths training and failed toquati! the competency basedexam as specified in Schedule IIshall have to apply and clear sixmonths training on or before l"January, 20 17.

l4 Validity of the lraining certiJicate.-Certification of training obtainedfrom any State shall be applicablefor the purposes of registrationunder Act in all States.
