All the fireplaces in this brochure are hand finished. As such, all measurements are approximate andmay vary slightly from those published. If any size is critical this should be made clear to your retailer atpoint of order. All the fireplaces are manufactured from natural materials and colour and veining variation can occurfrom photographs, printed material and any showroom displays that relate to these products. Anyvariation is outside our control and cannot be regarded as faulty or substandard. Due to the nature ofthe materials used in construction of these fireplaces it may be necessary to reinforce or use suitablefiller to eliminate brecciation in the material.

LIMESTONESmall fossils and calcified veins (very fine black lines which can be misinterpreted as cracks) are aninherent feature of natural limestone and whilst every care is taken to select the clearest material someare likely to be present.Due to the high moisture content of limestone, fireplaces will dry over time and become lighter inappearance.Care must be taken before and during installation, as all fireplaces are untreated and are susceptible todiscolouration. It is recommended that the completed installation is allowed to dry thoroughly and thensealed with a proprietary sealer. We recommend the ‘LTP’ range of Stonecare products available fromyour retailer.Cleaning and maintenance: Your fireplace can be cleaned with a sponge and warm soapy water.Stubborn stains can be removed with liquid domestic bleach (please test the bleach on an unseen partof the fireplace to check it does not mark the stone). Any small chips or scratches can be remediedusing a fine grade ‘wet and dry’ sand paper.

VEINED LIMESTONEFused over millions of years, limestone contains skeletal fragments of marine organisms resulting innatural veining and fossils throughout. Cool to the touch and with a smooth matt finish, this materialremains one of our most popular.

TEXTURED LIMESTONETaken from the top layer of the quarries in Portugal, this stone is composed of a mixture of hard andsoft materials. Once extracted it is sawn and worked in the same way as our veined limestone but isthen finished with diamond tipped brushes to create a unique smooth, yet textured surface finish.

AEGEAN LIMESTONEAlso known as Turkish limestone this off-white material is fine grained and infused with thousands ofminute fossils. During the manufacturing process many of these become loosened resulting in ‘pitting’across the material surface. This is a characteristic of the material and adds to the natural beauty of theproduct.

SANDSTONEA sedimentary rock composed mainly of sand-sized minerals or rock grains. This material is of a softerdensity and requires a more considered approach when handling and during installation. A naturaltextured finish gives this material its solid, earthy appearance.

NATURAL MARBLEMarble is a natural material formed from heat-fused limestone over millions of years. Although hardwearing, the polished finish can be susceptible to scratching and staining. It is recommended that thecomplete installation is allowed to dry thoroughly and then sealed with LTP’s MPG sealer. To retain thelustre of your fireplace regularly apply LTP’s Stonecare maintenance cleaner.

CARRARA MARBLEAlso known as Statuary marble, its dense composition has made it desirable for sculptures and statuesfor hundreds of years. The background colour ranges from white through to blue-grey and it is thencharacterised by a network of darker grey veins running throughout the material.

EGYPTIAN CRÈMEWith warm colours and subtle patterns this material will compliment any interior style décor. A featureof this marble is its distinctive fossil content, making each fireplace truly individual. Any inclusions orbrecciation in the material will be stopped, filled and polished prior to manufacture.

BLACK GRANITEThis is a very dense, hard wearing igneous rock with a high resistance to scratching and staining. Dueto its crystalline structure granite can be highly polished to a consistent colour and deep lustre.

CAST IRONAll the cast iron products are delivered with a protective, oil-based coating on polished surfaces. Thisshould be cleaned off immediately after installation and it is recommended that a spray-type oil is appliedto these areas on a regular basis in order to avoid surface rust appearing. Under no circumstances shoulda water-based cleaner or polish be used to clean cast iron products. Polished surfaces will undergothermal discolouration during normal use and this is to be expected. High temperature black paint isused inside the fire chamber and will burn off over a period of time. High temperature touch up paintis available from your retailer if required. Ash build up beneath the fire will cause the grate to burn outquickly. The grate and back brick (if present), are consumable parts of your fire and will need replacingfrom time to time. Due to the nature of cast iron it is vital that all fireplaces undergo a period of‘burning-in’. This involves lighting small fires initially, gradually increasing in size with each subsequentfiring.

BRUSHED STEEL FASCIASThese products are susceptible to rusting if they come into contact with moisture. This can be direct or carried in the atmosphere (such as a recently plastered room). They are supplied with a protective film that inhibits rust formation, howeverimmediately after installation they should be wiped down with a lint free clothand spray-type oil. We recommend this process is repeated on a weekly basis.Should small areas of surface rust appear they can be removed using extra finewire wool and WD40.

A gas fire is a technical piece of equipment and, just like a gas boiler,

requires servicing. It is essential that you have your gas fire serviced

annually by a GAS SAFE REGISTER installer.

All FDC (UK) Ltd gas fires carry a 12 month warranty from the date

of installation. Please ensure you complete and return the warranty

registration page in the back of the instruction manual. Please note

that the ceramic fuel bed, firebox liners and glass are not covered by

the warranty however spares are available from your retailer.

I M P O R T A N T I N F O R M A T I O NINSTALLATIONHaving a new fireplace installed is a major project and it is advisable to prepare yourself as well as possible. Please ensure your chosen fireplace will physically fit your chimneybreast and that it is compatible with the intended heating appliance. The best way to confirm this will be to organise a home survey with the retailer or your installer prior topurchase. All installations must be carried out in accordance with the requirements set out in the Building Regulation documents, paying particular attention to Approved Document J. Thereare independent bodies which have been approved to carry out installations in accordance with these regulations. For gas installations, the most recognised independent bodyis GAS SAFE REGISTER and for solid fuel installations it is HETAS. It is essential to confirm with your retailer that your new fireplace will be installed appropriately. If you haveyour new fireplace installed by a GAS SAFE REGISTER (gas) or HETAS (solid fuel) registered fitter you will be given a certificate stating that your installation has been carried outin accordance with Building Regulations. If you do not have one of these certificates you will have to arrange for your local Building Control Officer to inspect and approve yourinstallation.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONFDC (UK) Ltd has a continuous research and development programme which may necessitate changes to sizes and specifications without prior notification. If any size is criticalthis should be made clear to your retailer at point of order.

THE FDC PLEDGEYou can purchase any of the products shown in this brochure with total confidence. In the unlikely event that there is a defect discovered on unpacking, a replacement partwill be supplied without hesitation.
