Utah Concealed Carry Firearm Permit Training - May 24th

Cost will be $55.00 and class will convene at 2:00 pm on Saturday May 24.

Please contact Charles Woolwine at [email protected] for details.

Let’s hope April weather is better. We did get to have the March board meeting as

scheduled. Now it seems Mother Nature wants to send March out with a bang with more

SNOW.

The work on the five stand is getting done as weather permits. When done, we will have a

grand opening. All of the ranges are in good shape. The new building on C range is up. The

road in the club is in good shape considering the weather. There are some soft spots in the

road so please try not to drive over them. When setting targets please stay on the gravel so

the ranges don’t get torn up. When the weather breaks we will get the road in good shape.

That’s all for now and remember: Bring your kids, grandkids, nephews and nieces out to shoot

or come to some of our matches! And, most of all, have a good time at the range!

Stay warm and keep your powder dry.

Till next time,

Thanks,

John (Bill) Cash.

The Utah Concealed Firearm Permit is recognized by Virginia and 35 other states. That widespread recognition makes it good to have as an interstate traveler. Those who plan on carrying out of state may find it useful to have this as a second permit. The 4-hour class required to apply for this permit will now be offered at the clubhouse. Interested applicants should be club members and hold a Virginia Concealed Weapon Permit.

Current Available Work Hours

Every year we are faced with members who claim that work hours were not made available to them. For this reason, we will be posting assignments as they become available throughout the year to ensure that all members are aware of these opportunities.

Please contact me for further information regarding any of the listed positions, or to discuss duties in further detail. Assignments will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

Jackie Lapradd - 540-797-3961 - [email protected]

ROAD AND RANGE MONITORS

This program was a huge hit with the general membership, Match Directors, as well as our neighbors. Because of this, we will be continuing to monitor the roads and ranges for many of our 2014 matches. I would like to add that virtually 100% of the members that participated in this program commented that it was a quite enjoyable way to get in their work hours. I urge you to please consider signing up so we can keep this program run-ning.

SPRING EGG SHOOT

We are looking for several members to assist in getting the range ready for the Egg Shoot. Positions are available for Friday, April 25th, as well as Saturday, April 26th. The work roster usually fills quickly for this event, so if you are interested please contact me at your earliest convenience to better your chances of getting on the list.

GENERAL GROUNDS MAINTENANCE

We need 2-3 members who would be willing to help rake and seed the trenches cut into the 5 stand field, as well as the trench cut by AEP when the power was routed to the tractor shed. NOTE: This assignment will need to be performed during the week to avoid disrupting range activities.

CURRENT AVAILABLE WORK HOURS FOR MEMBERS

MATCH NEWS

Bend of Trail Well, the long winter is over. Cowboy season has just got started and this year looks promising. Our Shoot dates are the 4th Sunday of each month except for MAY. Dates are: April 23rd, May 18th, June 22nd , July 27th, Aug. 24th, Sept. 28th, Oct. 26th, and Nov. 23rd.

State Match setup is Wednesday August 27th - State Match will be August 29th through August 31st {Labor Day Weekend}

Our May Shoot will be a “Josey Wales” Shoot based on the movie. Josey Wales carried a lot of Pistols; didn't particularly care for Rifles. Each stage requires 4 Pistols and a Shotgun. On two of the stages, we add a Rifle also. We like to shoot a lot.

Our June Shoot is our “Wild Bunch” Match based on the movie of that name in 1968. This movie was based on a time right after the turn of the Century (early 1900s) when Automatic Pistols had just come out. We use 1911 45ACP Pistols , a lever Rifle and 1897 Pump Shotguns with a full load {6} in the magazine. We still dress Cowboy. This match gives our shooters the chance to pull out some of their other guns and clean the dust out of the bores.

Then it's down to basics. We spend the summer shooting and honing our skills for the State Championship. Then the Regionals.

We’ll have a picnic to go along with our October match.

Come on out and join us. Cowboy Action Shooting is a fun way to enjoy your 2nd Amendment Rights. We are a family sport with categories for all ages. Boys and Girls. We dress up in period clothing. We shoot revolvers, lever action Rifles (in Pistol caliber), and double barrel, lever or pump Shotguns. To us, the whole target is a “Bull's Eye”. All you got to do is hit it. But there are a bunch of steel targets out there and the sequence changes each Stage. Some of our shooters are serious, some not so serious, and some just enjoy shooting for the fun of it.

Visitors welcome. We were all visitors at one time or another till we saw how much fun it was and joined in. Not only can you shoot locally but there are other clubs near where you can also shoot. We host the Virginia State Championship here at RRRC. Many of us also travel to West Virginia, Maryland, North & South Carolina, Florida, etc., for their State Championships. And to the North East Regional Championships You can shoot as little or as much as you want to. Start out with a pair of blue jeans, long sleeve shirt, work boots and a Cowboy hat. Part time we're shootin', part time we're socializing. But we're having fun all the time. You do not need to join SASS to shoot local Cowboy Action at RRRC.

RRRC has many shooting venues. Get the most from your membership. Join in one or more of them. Watch the other venues. Spectators are welcome at all the shoots we have here. Bring a friend and double your fun. Call me for info:

IDPA by Simon LeRay Our March match was cancelled due to the weather. Let’s hope April Showers stay

away for our next match on April 12th. We have some good stages planned. We even have one with the "occasional

shots out to 35 yards." It should be a humbling experience for a few shooters.

Please be sure to keep May 10th free on your calendars as this is the annual VCDL shoot. Match fee is $20 and in-

cludes lunch, prizes, and some special stages designed just for this match. In addition, we will be hosting a charity match

for the Children’s Miracle Network on September 13th. This will be a 10-stage match, and will include lunch and a

prize table. Please keep this date free and spread the word.
