The First GreeksThe legend of Theseus says that once a year the Greeks in Athens were forced to send young men and women to Crete as food for a monster called the Minotaur, who had been born to the wife of Minos, King of Crete. It lived in a maze called the L_________, which was so confusing that people who entered it never found a way out. The M________ ate people who were thrown into the maze. Minos’ daughter fell in love with Theseus and gave him a special sword and a ball of t______ so he could find his way out of the maze.
