Expand your horizons
Clearview Library district
The Focus
The Clearview Library District has served the Windsor, Severance, and West Greeley communities for nearly a century. During this time, we have evolved from a place where people simply access books and periodicals and meet to discuss them, to a destination offering a wide range of popular materials, gadgets, and exciting activities. We take pride in inviting people into the library and reaching them where they are, in school and around town. This is especially true for teenagers in the area. Whether you are a teen yourself, or live with someone who is, the library offers a multitude of resources. The first resource is Brittany, CLD’s Teen Librarian. Is your teen seeking a summer job or volunteer opportunity or applying for college? Brittany is available to help with resumes, cover letters, and letters of recommendation. Teens can also access a variety of programs, just for them, at the library. We offer at least one program a week specifically for teens, some examples include Teen Video Game Night, programs centered around DIY projects, and the upcoming Skateboard Competition this summer. Check out the calendar for program dates and times. Teens also come to the library to check out our latest tech toys, such as the 3D printer, where they can print whatever they want at no cost. In addition to the programs and resources for teens in the library itself, we also bring many of these resources, via our travelling
book cart, to Severance Middle School, Windsor Middle School, Windsor Charter Academy, and Windsor High School. We bring the latest young adult novels, graphic novels, movies, magazines, video games, tech toys, and music. We also facilitate Booked for Lunch in the cafeteria, an informal book club where teens talk about what they are reading.
Our book cart sets teens up with library cards and allows them to check out material at their school. The book cart is constantly curated based on what teens are reading, watching, and playing. It also offers an opportunity for a quick DIY project—teens can make a button or even a pumpkin spice latte. Furthermore, our outreach to teens extends to contact with their teachers to find ways to support and enrich their learning. We speak to high school freshmen at the start of every school year to share how the library can help them with their school work. During these presentations, we highlight the library’s quiet study space, access to research databases, and free WIFI. We are always looking for ways to tailor our programs and services to what our teens are into, so please check back for new programs and watch out for the book cart at a school near you! Brittany Dolezal can be reached at [email protected].

Think your preschooler is too young for
chores? He’s not! Chores help kids feel
accomplished and like they are part of
their family team. By completing tasks,
preschoolers can learn age-appropriate
skills to help them function independently
in school and the outside world.
Let your preschooler pick up sticks and
trash in the yard. Preschoolers can dust
furniture and wipe crumbs from the table
after meals. Allow them to help unload
the dishwasher, water plants, feed pets,
sort laundry, sweep
small areas with a
hand broom, or
vacuum.
Bookmobile
Announcements Please take note of a few new changes to the bookmobile
schedule:
*New Bookmobile stop at Good Samaritan Water Valley! Come see us every Tuesday from 1:15-1:45pm at 805 Compassion Drive in Windsor, starting April 4th.
*It’s soccer season! Visit the Bookmobile at Eastman Park during half-time or between games. The Bookmobile will be at Eastman Park on Saturdays in April beginning April 8th, from 8:30am-12:30pm.
Shape the Future of
Your Library Please join us at the Windsor-Severance Library this
Tuesday, April 4th at 5:30 P.M. to weigh in on a future
library for our community.
While other public services in our area build for the future,
Clearview Library District is also considering expansion
options that will allow us to keep pace with our growing
community. This meeting will be an opportunity to give
your feedback on the amenities and resources you would
want a new library to provide. We have hired an
architecture firm to draw plans for a library to be located
on property we own at Greenspire Drive and East Main
Street. During the meeting, the architects will share
information about the design process as well as the
timeline. The Clearview Library District may ask voters to
fund a new library through a ballot initiative this
November.
We hope to see you this April 4th! Light refreshments and
childcare will be provided.
