Long ago there was a clever fox and a crocodile.

They were friends. They wanted to grow food.

First they grew some rice. The crocodile asked, “How will we share the rice?”

The fox said, “You can eat the roots and I will eat the tops.”

When it was time to eat, the crocodile saw the roots were not good to eat.

The fox laughed, and ate all the tasty rice.

Next they grew potatoes.

When it was time to eat, the crocodile said, “This time I will eat the tops and you can eat the roots.”

When it was time to eat, the crocodile saw the tops were not good to eat.

The fox laughed and ate all the roots, the potatoes. The crocodile got nothing.

  Next they grew coconuts.

The crocodile was very hungry and said, “I will eat the outside and you can eat the inside.”

Fox saw the inside of the coconut was very delicious. And, the outside was bad to eat.

The fox ate all the inside and the crocodile got nothing to eat.

Next, they grew sugar cane.

This time, the crocodile had a good idea. . .

“Let’s share our food fairly,” said the crocodile.

The fox and the crocodile are happy now. They share food fairly and everyone has food to eat.
