"For since death came through a human
being, the resurrection of the dead came
also through a human being. For just as in
Adam, all die, so too in Christ shall all be
brought to life.” 1 Cor. 15:21-22

Why we Do what we Do From the desk of Heidi Scott
As I write this we are in the midst of Lent and preparations and rehearsals are well underway. Lent is 40 days and culminates with the three days of the Triduum. These sacred days remain a time for solemn reflection. Sundown on Holy Thursday to sundown on Easter Sunday is considered the most solemn part of the liturgical year. This
three-day period is referred to as the Easter Triduum.. The evening Mass on Holy Thursday is referred to as The Mass of
the Lord's Supper. This is where the Church relives the institution of the Eucharist and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at the Last Supper,
as well as the institution of the priesthood, which took place the even-ing before Jesus was crucified. Holy Thursday Mass will begin
at 6:00 pm and will include washing of the feet. Good Friday, is a solemn day of fasting and abstinence. The liturgy
on this day is not a Mass, rather it is a communion service which uses consecrated hosts from Holy Thursday. Our Good Friday
liturgies are at 12 noon and 6:00pm with Stations of the Cross at the Holy hour of 3:00pm.
The Easter Vigil Mass is held at 8:00pm on Holy Saturday, in celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. This liturgy is perhaps the
most glorious, beautiful, and holy liturgy for the Church. The vigil is divided into four parts; 1) the service of light, 2) the liturgy of the Word, 3) the liturgy of Baptism and Confirmation, 4) the liturgy of the Eucharist. This is the time where many in RCIA are brought
into full communion with the Catholic Church. Many people have said, once they have experienced the fullness of the Triduum, they plan on coming again year after year. Many mem-bers of the choir have commented, that the Triduum not only defines
their faith tradition, but it reminds them of why we do what we do. I invite you to make the complete Triduum part of your tradition and immerse yourself in the Sacred Mystery that defines life and love.
