APPLICATIONS

o The applications most suited for the smart Flexray controller are:

1. Simple Applications: The ECU is generally used as simple control or a sensor node. Ex: Seat Control, Lighting Systems etc.

2. High End Applications: It involves multiple ECUs connected to a single powerful processor. Ex: Gateways, Diagnostic Unit etc.

KEY BENEFITS OF SMART FLEXRAY CONTROLLER

o Facilitates quick decisiono Reduce the time taken by the host processor in

accessing the Flexray controller.o Better content filtering with programmable parameters.o Can work without a host processor in simple

applications, hence reducing the overall cost.o Supports up to 1K of program memory allows a

decent sized application.o Gives more flexibility to the designer.

CONCLUSION

o Vehicular networking will play a major role in the future automobile

o As a vehicular networking protocol, Flexray will ease implementations like “Steer by wire”, “Brake by wire” in future automobileso Open-source silicon will be to automobiles what open-source

is to software. Boundaries will end, monopolies will cease.o Smart Flexray controllers will help in managing the data

flow in a vast Flexray network and bringing down the cost per ECU
