From the Secretary’s Desk
Welcome to the October edition of our News Letter, once again, it
has been a very busy month, my wife reckons that I should get a bed in
my office to give me an extra hour a day in the office.
We have made a few changes around the club, the tables in the bar
area have been rearranged to allow easier access for members to move
to and from the bar and kitchen areas. We have changed the stage area
by moving the flags, uniform manikins and piano (I have found a piano
player who happy to play for us) around and placed merchandise stands
up, so members can have a look to see what’s available. If anyone has
any suggestions or queries, please feel free to come and discuss it with
me. At the moment, we are in the process of rearranging the office area
to give Welfare an office to allow for privacy when interviewing clients,
as well as turning the outer office and Wilson Room into a reception
area for welfare clients and contractors to enter the building and wait for
the appropriate people.
We have had some very positive feedback from recent functions,
the 13th of October, “Heart and Soul were very good with more than 120
people here for the night, the next night we had a private function,
where the lady who hired the hall was so impressed with staff and
presentation of the club, she sent an email thanking the club, staff and
committee members, she also posted her gratitude on social media. We
then had the Presidents Dinner on the 21st October, A big thank you to
the 52nd AACC Unit for their excellent support once again, I really don’t
know what we would do without them, tanks again. The kitchen staff
and bar staff did a wonderful job and the meals were superb, a great
night was had by all.
As you can see in this month’s edition, we have several activities
coming up. I hope to see you all down here at our club or should I say
“YOUR CLUB” to have fun and enjoy yourselves and don’t forget
New Members are Welcome.
Cheers,
Wombat

WELFARE MATTERS
Hi to everyone!
I hope you have already put your name down to participate in “Veterans
Health Week”!
This year the theme for VHW is “PHYSICAL ACTIVITY” which is
why I have organised along with all my helpers to have a “Walk
around Armadale Shopping Centre” followed by Information on
Nutrition and “Cooking for One or Two” and a Luncheon afterwards
also a cooking book. This takes place from 10.30 am on Tuesday 24th
October.
Our other event is our fun Mini Olympic Games for all the Family!!
Have you put you and your family’s names down for the “MINI
OLYMPIC GAMES” on Sunday the 29th
October??? There are fun
games for Adults and the Children so bring along all the family
including the Grandies and you never know you might get a GOLD
MEDAL or two.
Yes! It is a fun day for everyone and no you don’t need to be an
athlete! After the “Games” there is a “Free Lunch”. So be at
Minnawarra Park at 11am on Sunday 29th
October and have a fun
day with the family!!
………………..
Have you prepared an Advanced Health Directive?
If you haven’t and would like to do one, then come and see me or Ken
and we can fill in the form ready for you to take and have witnessed and
then in the case of anything unforeseen occurring, your wishes are there
to be carried out.
If you have any questions about Advanced Health Directives, you can
contact the Depart of Health or speak to your Doctor. However, you can
also make an appointment to see either Ken or Myself and we can go
through the Directive together and you can make, a decision then.
Keep Healthy and Happy Cheers, Jude and Ken your Welfare and
Pension officers

Are YOU one of the growing number of
RSL Members without a Valid Will?
Everyone should have a Will. Dying without a Will, no matter how
simple you believe your affairs to be, can make things harder and
far more expensive for your family and loved ones resulting in years
of stress and conflict.
A Will is without doubt the most important document you need to have.
It enables you to determine how you wish to distribute your estate, your
valuables, your funeral wishes, the guardianship of those you care for,
any donations or charitable support for others.
Without a current Will you are leaving what could be very important
decisions in the hands of a government administrator (Public Trustee) to
determine the distribution of your estate.
The Armadale RSL in conjunction with Pre-Paid Legal now offers you
a Legal Plan, with the ability to establish a simple Will and enduring
power of attorney, review or make changes in the future, have it
safely, all at no charge as part of Armadale RSL Legal Plan.
For further information on the many benefits of the “Legal Plan”
contact PRE-PAID LEGAL on (08) 9355 5822 and protect the ones
you love now.

Trevor’s Jokes of the Month
Blame...NOT! NOT! NOT! RESPONSIBLE!
12
BLAME:
How the world works lately...
If a man cuts his finger off while slicing salami at work, he blames the restaurant.
If you smoke 3 packs a day for 40 years & die of lung cancer,
your family blames the tobacco company.
If your neighbour crashes into a tree while driving home drunk, He blames the bartender.
If your grandchildren are brats without manners, You blame television.
If your friend is shot by a deranged madman, You blame the gun manufacturer.
And if a crazed person breaks into the cockpit and tries to kill the pilot at 35,000 feet and the passengers kill him instead, The mother of the crazed deceased blames the airline
I must have lived too long to understand the world as it is anymore.
So, if I die while my OLD WRINKLED ARSE is parked in front of this computer, I want all of you to
Blame Bill Gates.
Have a nice day!
