SPECIAL FEATURES

ORIFICE PLATE SEALING UNITS give positive seal between orifice plate andbody seats. They are available for a variety of services.

PLATE CARRIER protects orifice plate at all times while inserting or removingfrom fitting.

INDICATOR PLATE clearly shows the position of the valve within the fitting.

TEFLON SHAFT PACKING AND CENTERING RINGS are standard equipmenton all Precision Dual Chamber fittings in all sizes and ratings.

FITTINGS up to and including 6” line size can operate in a vertical up flowcondition or positioned in horizontal flow for side opening.

COMPACT DESIGN requires minimum operating space.

ALL DUAL CHAMBER ORIFICE FITTINGS are designed and manufactured tomeet latest ANSI/API/AGA recommendations, and in strict accordance with thelatest A.S.T.M. specifications.

SPECIAL FEATURES

On all sizes, ANSI Class 300 or under, three dowel pin flange-alignment holesare drilled in the flanges.

Class 400 or higher, flanges aremanufactured with close-tolerance, square-shouldered, large male flange-facing onfitting and large female flange-facing onmeter tube to assure proper internalalignment. Flange gaskets are precision-cut so that under compression they willnot extend into internal bore of fitting.Refer to engineering drawing above.

In Precision Dual Chamber Orifice Fittings, the valve seat is a part of the upper chamber. Thevalve strip moves underneath this seat, thus utilizing line pressure to effect a positive seal. The valve strip is maintained in "floating" position by minimum spring pressure. Before slidevalve is opened, it is lubricated through grease gun. Pressure is then equalized throughoutthe entire fitting by operation of the equalizer valve. Equalized pressure on both sides of thevalve strip allows slide valve to move freely without wear. Valve seat and valve strip are groundfor tight shut-off and are easily removable for grinding if required.

Bring your existing fitting to the new revised API/AGA 14.3 with the PRECISIONPRECERT ® & Seal Ring

Have no Beta RestrictionsInterchangeability of plates & plate carriersFits most all single & dual chamber OrificeAccepts Standard 500 Series Universal Orifice Plates2-Piece S.S. PRECERT® ALIGNMENT RINGS snapAllows field replacement without special toolsRequires no special assembly for alignment

Precision Flow, Inc. would like to announce the introduction of a Patented Solution to the current API 14.3 recessand protrusion limitations. Our studies show that it is not necessary to narrow the seat gap width to achieve com-pliance. We have chosen to leave the standard .688 dimension as it is! In doing this, we have developed the“PRECERT® ALIGNMENT RING System”. These rings, once installed in either a dual chamber or single chamberfitting; a smooth transition is accomplished! If your particular model of fitting meets other tighter guidelines, suchas tap hole spacing, I.D. finish, eccentricity, etc., the introduction of these PRECERT ® RINGS will allow your exist-ing fitting to meet these new guidelines!

ECCENTRICITYThe orifice plate bore must be concentric with both the upstream and downstream inside wall of the orifice plateholder. The orifice plate bore eccentricity, measured parallel to the axis of the pressure taps.

RECESSES & PROTRUSIONSThe orifice plate gasket or sealing device tolerances and restrictions shall apply at locations immediately upstreamand downstream of the orifice plate face. Protrusions resulting from an orifice plate gasket or sealing device thatextend into the pipe bore are not permitted. A recess resulting from an orifice plate gasket or sealing device, of0.25 inch or less in length, as measured parallel to the pipe axis, does not require recess depth restriction, diame-ter ratio (Br) limitation, or additional uncertainty. A recess resulting from an orifice plate gasket or scaling device,of more than 0.25 inch but less than or equal to 0.5 inch in length, does not require diameter ration (Br) limitationor additional uncertainly if the depth of the recess is within the limitations

TAP HOLE SPACINGMeter tubes using flange taps shall have the center of the upstream pressure tap hole placed 1 inch from theupstream face of the orifice plate. The center of the down stream pressure tap hole shall be 1 inch from the down-stream face of the orifice plate. If the pressure tap holes are located by measuring from the bearing face of aflange, allowance must be made for the gasket or plate holding device used. Each tap hole shall be located at the1-inch dimension within the tolerances is recommended that a maximum diameter ratio (Br) of 0.75 be used in thedesign of new installations.

SEAL RING TEST / TAP HOLE COMMUNICATIONSIn orifice fittings there is the possibility that some fluid may bypass the orifice plate. Tests shall be conducted afterthe meter run has been pressure tested in accordance with the relevant code to ensure the following:

No differential pressure tap communication or leakage exists. No holding or sealing device fluid bypassexists.

TUBE CONDITIONSThe internal surface roughness of the meter tube should be measured at approximately the same axial locations asthose used to determine and verify the meter tube internal diameter. A minimum of four roughness measurementsshall be made. The mean (arithmetic average) of these four or more roughness measurements is defined as themeter tube internal surface roughness. The mean meter tube internal surface roughness may not exceed the fol-lowing specifications if the uncertainty values of part I are to be met:

A. 300 micro inches R if the diameter ratios (Br) are less than 0.6.B. 250 micro inches R if the diameter ratios (Br) are greater orEqual to 0.6
