Community-Based Services

Now FutureHaving access to different programs that allow for individuals to use across a wide range of services. Community-based services now are difficult to find unless you know exactly what services you need and where to get them.

Services will be available and more accessible for those who need them. It will be easy to find exactly what is needed like picking toppings for a sandwich. Services for older adults will need to incorporate a healthy active lifestyle and not just those focused on retirement homes and nursing homes.

Education

Now FutureEducation is limited to those who have money and resources in order to obtain it. It also has limited access for older adults in a wide range of subjects. Must community learning is limited to workshops.

As the older generation becomes more familiar with computers more education opportunities will be available to them. They will be able to access different avenues of learning that are limited now mostly due to being unfamiliar with the computer.

Funding Scenarios

There will be Free Community College that will allow for less debt for students to obtain a degree.

Performance funding Performance funding differs in that it ties funding (via a formula) to

institutional outcome variables such as graduation numbers, job placement rates, and indicators of intermediate progression such as student retention and completion of developmental education (Dougherty)

Diversity and Education Education will change how it is approached for we have different age

groups who are going back for education or waiting to obtain a higher degree.

You also have people from other countries where English is not their first language, so teachers will have to take different approach to teaching.

Key Steps People must be aware of their own social identity and its impact on others Know and apply social identity development theories Recognize how multiple social identities and power interface with society

on an individual, community, and institutional level. Carefully consider your approach to curriculum development and

facilitation of diversity education (Tharp).

Diversity and Community-Based Services As communities become more diverse, then so must the services. There will need to be more participants choices There will also need to be diversity of the services provided based on

the participants choices

Laws and Community-Based Services and Education Federal No Child Left Behind Act

Will have more revisions to it to include those who are immigrants and those who live in poverty. More studies are coming out to share how poverty affects the way a child learns. (Malavasic)

Community-based services will be become more stringent on the federal level due to funding. This will affect what is available and who it is available too.
