Your Network Will Be Of Greater Importance

James Marland

With a network in which new supply sources can be found, you can locate more efficient providers of products or services. You can also choose suppliers based on their cloud footprint and energy use and screen suppliers for conflict minerals or poor labor practices. Inefficiencies in transportation and warehousing can be eliminated, and your logistics providers can give better updates about where they have capacity. Plus, you can give more accurate signals regarding demand.

Economic Waste Will Be Reduced

With perfect information, we can make as-close-as-humanly-possible perfect decisions about resource utilization. I do encourage companies to know exactly what is happening throughout their own demand network as far back as their suppliers. That real-time insight needs to extend even further to customers, so demand can be pulled through the demand network with the lowest possible resources.

It Will Be Part Of Your Strategy

In corporate strategies, resource optimization needs to be taken into account. Companies need to manage their most important assets in an agile and innovative way: people, money, customers, and supplier relations. Those four segments are impacted by constant change and should be addressed if companies want to evolve forward.Sven Denecken

Supply Chain Optimization Will Play A Key Role

The right utilization of resources begins with good visibility into the supply chain. Proactive identification and mitigation of supplier risks, material and inventory cost containment, accurate sourcing decisions enablement, supplier performance management, and working capital optimization are just a few examples of how enterprises can gain timely and accurate insights into their supply chains.

It Will Transform How Business Is Conducted

The closer companies operate in proximity of the end consumer, the more effort they make to fully understand the sustainability of their supply chain. This is not just a question of retail and consumer goods companies increasing transparency into a market of demanding consumers. It is, in fact, a question of risk mitigation, resource efficiency, collaboration, and – eventually – transformation of those supply chains by using the most modern technologies available.

Innovation Will Be An Unlimited Resource

Paul Boris

Global Vice President, Manufacturing and Operations Mobility, SAP

If you think about it, data availability in context – or more importantly insight – allows me to apply the only truly unlimited resource we have, which is innovation. Then I can craft a model for consuming resources in the most effective fashion. The issue is not simply automating a process or workflow. The issue is not simply applying more labor or physical infrastructure. The issue is getting the right person exactly what they want or need at exactly the right time across the entire value chain.

Resource Optimization Will Be Sustainable

Christian Berg

Chief Sustainability Architect

Companies need to think about sustainable practices. This is hard because there’s no governance yet. I think there’s near-term potential through the use of cloud-based networks that enable companies to collaborate online. Suppliers can report and exchange data with their customers on regulatory and environmental compliance. With enough participation from other companies, it can transform a whole industry.
