ANTHEM Chancel Choir

Blessed Assurance ................................ arr. Harold DeCou

This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day;

Blessed Assurance Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His spirit, washed in His blood.

Perfect submission all is at rest, I in my Savior am happy and blest; watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day.

THE SERMON Rev. Dr. Barger

“In Remembrance of Me”

The Response of God’s People

THE OFFERTORY Chancel Choir

O For a Faith ........................................ arr. Nathan Carter

O for a faith that will not shrink tho’ pressed by many a foe, that will not tremble on the brink of any earthly woe.

That will not murmur nor complain beneath the chast’ning rod, but in the hour of grief or pain will lean upon its God.

A faith that shines more bright and clear when tempests rage without, that when in danger, know no fear, in darkness feels no doubt. Lord, give me such a faith as this, and then, what’er may come,

I’ll taste e’en now the hallowed bliss of an eternal home.

*HYMN OF RESPONSE #456 I Come with Joy Dove of Peace

This text affirms that Christian unity is not achievement but gift, one renewed each time we gather for the Lord’s Supper. Each of us enters as an “I” and leaves as part of “we.” The unadorned language of this text is well matched to the simple shape note tune that sets it here.
