In the XV Century Spain and Portugal were rediscovered and divided into different territories.

Christopher Columbus left Spain to discover America. 12th October 1492.

The Aztecs The Mayas The Incas

When Columbus arrived to the Americas there were three indigenous tribes.

There were wars against the Spanish and these tribes to control these areas.

The capital was Tenochitlán. This is a place in Mexico.

There are still pyramids and temples there.

In 1592, Hernán Cortes invaded the Aztec tribe with the help of the Emperor Moctezuma II.

The new name of this place is Mexico City.

The Mayan culture wrote their own language. ´Mayan Script´.

They were a very important tribe before Columbus invaded.

The Mayan population still live in their tribes today.

The capital of the Incas is Machu Pichu. This is in Peru.

The Inca empire was the biggest in the New World.

The emperor of this empire was worshiped as the son of the sun.

Laws were made in Spanish Institutions were created- all the information was

controled from Sevilla to the Americas.

Spain became an Imperial Colony. There were battles with England and Holland over these territories.

Social problems- the indigenous population of the Incas, Mayans and Aztecs disappeared becauase of the wars.
