Words From Your Treasurer

Hey District Board!

October was a super important

month for Club Treasurers that wanted to

earn the Early Bird Dues patch. Dues

collection should have begun and finished

and member rosters should have been

drafted. Invoices should have been

created and checks should have been

written. Three packages should have been

sent: the check and invoice to

International, a copy of the check and

invoice to Mr. Goldstein, and a copy of

the check and invoice to me.

Yours in the spirit of service,

Alexander Mok

District Treasurer 2013 – 2014

Please continue to remind your Club Treasurers of the available

resources on my Issuu page. This page can be found at

www.issuu.com/alexmokk. The dues guide is extremely helpful for treasurers

that have questions, but I also have a FAQ in this newsletter for those extra

questions not answered. Please save the date of November 15, because

that’s when all clubs should be sending in their checks and invoices.

Dues: Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your Dues Guide?

You can find A Treasurer’s How-To:

Membership Dues by clicking here.

You can download the guide by

clicking “Share” and “Download”.

To whom and when should I mail the

check and invoice?

Can I pay for 15 members now and

pay for more later?

Package 1 (Actual Check + Copy of

Invoice) to:

Key Club International

PO Box 6069 – Dept. 123

Indianapolis, IN 46206-6069 USA

Package 2 (Copy of Check + Copy

Yes, you can. After you print an

invoice for your first batch of

members and send your first check

to International, you can continue

updating your Membership Update

Center. You will only be billed for the

newly added members.

Why did dues increase from $11.50

to $12.50?

How will I know International

received my mail?

What is the Early Bird Dues patch?

What should I do if my dues are

late?

Your District Treasurer will send out

periodic updates with a list of clubs

that have paid and not paid their

dues. Just check in with your District

Treasurer through email or another

form of communication if you need

a speedier response.

The Early Bird dues patch is a great

way to show club members that you

sent in dues early. It is a patch that is

placed on the club banner. If clubs

don’t have a banner, they can

easily order one here.

If clubs do not send in their dues by the

regular deadline of December 1, they are

a delinquent club. Delinequent clubs

cannot have delegates at conventions or

candidates for higher office, but it is simple

to revert back to an active status. Clubs

just need to submit their dues payment

ASAP.

With materials and other expenses

getting costlier every year, it was

necessary to raise dues to stay on

budget. Every dollar from member

counts, and no dollars are gone to

waste. Click here to view a Dues

Breakdown.

Role of Club Treasurer

What should a Club Treasurer be doing in October?

The Festive Idea

Leaf Raking

Go door to door asking for

donations in return for raking

the leaves in your neighbor’s

front or back yard.

In October, they should be:

Holding fundraisers and sending in FRFs and proofs

Sending their member roster and dues check for the

Early Bird Dues patch

Speaking with their other club officers

Reviewing the requirements for the Distinguished Club

Treasurer Award

October Fundraising Ideas

The Low Budget Idea

Penny Wars

Nothing beats friendly

competition between grades

in your school. Bring in one jar

for each grade and collect

change and bills to see

which grade can collect the

most money!

The Extra Special Idea

Talent Show

Host a talent show and

collect entrance fees. Be

sure your acts are tasteful

and be sure your show is

worth watching!

District and International Dues Collection

Below you will find a breakdown of how every club member’s dues are used. The

money is never gone to waste, and it is important to tell current and prospective

members where their money is going.

For the 2013 – 2014 service year, dues will be $12.50 in addition to the optional

$1 – $3 that each club can add. The breakdown of dues is shown below.

I hope to have more clubs earn the Early Bird Dues Patch for this service year.

Please check out my How-To guide for dues for detailed steps on submitting dues

and for a recommended timeline of completed actions. Click here to view my

dues guide on Issuu.

I will also create a chart to note which clubs have paid dues for the service year

and when so that all Lieutenant Governors can remind their clubs to submit dues.
