READINGS FOR THIS SUNDAY 1st Reading: Exodus 3:1-8a, 13-15 2nd Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:1-6, 10-12 Gospel: Luke 13: 1-9 These are the Bible references for each Sunday reading - so that these can be reflected upon at home – this coming week. Sometimes by re-visiting a passage we discover different aspects of God’s Word for us.

DAY BY DAY BOOKLETS FOR LENT (copies still available) These booklets are available at the back of church for you to use during Lent. There are Infant and Junior versions for your children and grandchildren. Please avail yourself of these great little booklets.
LUNCHEON CLUB DONATION Some time ago the Good Shepherd Luncheon Club donated £500 to a charity named “Mary’s Meals”. This charity provides meals for children in developing world countries who otherwise would not have regular food. We have recently received a thank you letter gratefully acknowledging our donation. A bonus to our donation is the fact that the UK government will match the amount that we have given. In effect then the charity benefits to the tune of £1000! It is a pleasing thought that we as older people eating in Mytholmroyd can have a wider impact by also helping young people in the world to eat. Thanks therefore must go to the people who steadfastly staff the luncheon club as well as the patrons who use our service. Thank you all for your support. Doris Moorhead
CATHOLIC CARE APPEAL 2019
The Annual Appeal for Catholic Care will take place over the weekend of 30th and 31th March. The Charity undertakes so much good work, caring for those who are disadvantaged, vulnerable and marginalised, including those with disabilities, babies, children and families, older people including the retired Priests, and much work reaching out into the community. These are financially challenging times, especially for our community work. Please give as generously as you are able.
DAY OF RECONCILIATION AT LEEDS CATHEDRAL Thursday 11th April 2019 from 7am – 7pm. Confessions will be available throughout the day.
REV FR ANGELO PHILLIPS RIP Of your charity please pray for the repose of Fr Angelo’s soul and remember his family and friends in your prayers at this time. Arrangements - Tuesday 26th March 12.00 noon - Funeral Mass, St Robert’s Church, Robert Street, Harrogate. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
CHILDREN'S STATIONS OF THE CROSS There will be a Children's Stations of the Cross on Friday 29th March at 3.30 pm. Pizza afterwards. Can you let me know if your child is joining me so I know how much to buy? I can be there for 3pm so children can arrive from then. Parents/carers welcome to stay (either joining in or socializing in lounge)! Jo Woodhead
CAFOD LENT FAMILY FAST DAY

LENTEN CONFESSIONS (SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION) Saturdays, 10.30 – 11.00am They say the biggest mistakes we make in life are the ones we make with our eyes wide open—the ones where we know what we are doing, and decide to do it anyway. I would like to invite you to the sacrament of reconciliation - an opportunity for individual confession on Saturdays during Lent at 10.30 - 11.00am except Saturday of Holy Week. But don’t let nerves hold you back. However long it has been, however bad the sin, however embarrassed you feel – don’t let anything stop you from going to confession. Remember that it is the Lord we meet in confession. Christ touches our life through each sacrament. Every priest will keep your confession absolutely secret for the rest of his life.
GOOD SHEPHERD CONSULTORS MEETING The Consultors Group met last Tuesday (19th March) and approved an Action Plan based on the findings of the Parish Review. Owing to recent bad weather when the January meeting was cancelled the Action Plan was delayed. Several items on the Action Plan have already been put into action since the Review was published last October. A summary of the Action Plan will be available soon.
CALDER VOICE - SPECIAL EDITION I am putting together a Calder Voice which is going to be a special edition focusing on the Good Shepherd parish’s international connections. We hope to have it published for Holy Week. If you have any interesting contributions please send them to me for inclusion. Sean Morris – editor Calder Voice
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS
We tend to shun thinking about death and preparations for funerals. But sometimes a little preparation can help, especially those who are left behind. It might be an idea to have a chat with your family and friends about your funeral arrangement – Requiem Mass or funeral Service, Hymns, Scripture Readings. This will then be written down and placed with your papers in a safe place, so that when the time comes we will know what to do.
WOMEN PEACEMAKERS TALK I'm writing to alert you to an event in Bradford Cathedral on Palm Sunday - 14th April at 6 pm that will offer an opportunity to hear the stories of two remarkable women peacemakers in the Holy Land who work with Musalaha - an important Christian reconciliation initiative. I do hope you will be able to join us - and can bring others with you. The event is free entry. Every blessing Gordon Dey (Jesus Shaped People Team Leader) www.jesusshapedpeople.net
