On Monday June 1st the 8 members of the WPGA team representing ESYCC headed

to Hog Neck Golf Course in Easton, MD to play in the Team Match semi-final. They

played a practice round on Monday in sunny, hot weather. Was it Snoopy who started

his novels with “It was a dark and stormy night...”? Well, it sure was Monday night

and carried into Tuesday, the day of the tournament. A very wet, cold bedraggled

team was defeated by the team from Jonathans Landing Golf Course, who eventually

went on to win the Championship the following week. Despite the loss the team had a

wonderful time. We're so proud of them. Congratulations on your successful season

ladies!

The LGA Member/Guest tournament was held on June 16th. It was a bright sunny

day and the theme of Red, White & Blue was evident everywhere. Everything looked

beautiful! Many many thanks to tournament co-chairs Peaches Dodge and Marie

Ruggiere (and their sidekick Sue Connors) for their hard work putting together such a

wonderful tournament. Congratulations to the winners:

Low Gross, Susan Duer & Sarah Jones

Low Net, Barbara Murphy & Jen Reason

Second Low Gross, Sue Connors & Tammy Hedspeth

Second Low Net, Peaches Dodge & Margie Byrd.

On June 23rd the ladies played a regular monthly tournament. Due to the hot weather

the tournament was played on The Short Course. Congratulations to the winners of

the Criss Cross Tournament, first place Ginger Meisenhelder and second place

Barbara Murphy.

The Ladies Invitational is coming up in August! It is open to all female golfers, not

just LGA members. If

you have not received an

entry form please check

the bulletin board in the

ladies locker room. July

15th is the cut off to get

the Early Bird Discount

Rate. If you have any

questions please call

Tournament Chair Deb

Bergner.

See you on the course!

Barbara Murphy,

President, LGA

WPGA Team at Hog Neck Golf Course

Ames, Luke Brankley, Charlie Marshall and Charlie Misuna. The second flight

winners are, Bob Bloxom, Doug Cook, Adam James and C.L. Marshall. Great playing

gentleman!

We had a great turn out for the Taylor Made Golf and Bridgestone Golf

Fitting and demo day. Our ESYCC Junior Summer Camp was a big success! If you

missed out this year, be sure to sign up your child or grandchild for next year’s

camp. The kids really had a great time and learned a lot.

Our upcoming events for this month will be the Fourth of July Tournament

on Saturday. To sign up please call the Golf Shop. We have a new outside event

this year called the First Annual Athletic Booster Golf Tournament on Friday, the

17th. This is for the Nandua High School Fund Raiser. If you are interested in

playing or supporting this event, please call the Golf Shop. Our Men’s Member/

Guest Event is full! If you wanted to play we can put you on a stand by list. The

event date is 23 - 25th. Finally, Thursday, July 30 we are planning a nine hole Play

Golf Day Tournament. We will keep you informed about the format and cost.

Swing Smooth! Dennis Winters, PGA
