Fellowship

Welcome New Members! Welcome to our newest members, The

Hotard Family! Gabe, Sylvia, Hampton, Thomas,

Abigail, and Audrey united with our church on

Sunday, November 9th, by transfer of letter from

Cornelia UMC.

Children and Youth News Our Children's Ministry had a wonderful

Halloween! We passed out candy on the square to

children in the community. Despite the high winds

and chilly weather, many children came to the Con-

nection for candy, including many of our own

Chruch families. Thank you to all the members of

the church who donated candy! Your contribution

made many children smile.

This past month, the youth played Zombies,

a hide-and-seek game. Many of the youth invited

friends to join the fun so we were pleased with a

great turnout! Always filled with friends, fun, and

a little bit of fright, the game was a blast for all!

Coming up in December, our children have

a busy month! We will have a Nativity Scene on

Wednesday, December 10th, at 5:00pm in front of

the Connection. Also, our play, "Christmas Snap-

shots," led by Katie Grady, will have its perform-

ance Wednesday evening, December 17th,

at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary. All are invited to attend

these upcoming programs!

The youth will have Guy/Girl event

on Friday evening, December 5th. The guys and

girls will split up and do different activities. The

girls are headed to Splashe! on the square to paint.

The guys will be playing football and other games.

Youth families check your email for details, includ-

ing cost and pick up/drop off locations and times. -Brian Butcher, Director of Youth and Children

The Ladies Lunch Bunch meets monthly on the

second Tuesday to go to the ―restaurant of the

month‖ and enjoy good fellowship and food. The

next destination is Olive Garden in Gainesville.

We will leave from the church on Tuesday, Decem-

ber 9th at 10:30am sharp. RSVP is necessary so

please call the church office by Monday, December

8th to save your seat!

Th e Je t s e t t e r s For their November & December luncheons,

the Jetsetters will join with The Good News Class

for a holiday meal at The Sunflower Restaurant in

Cleveland on Thursday, December 4th. Reserva-

tions are required so please call the Church Office

to save your seat!

CFUMC Preschool The Preschool would like to invite our

Church Family to join us for a Christmas Program

on Thursday, December 18th at noon in the Fellow-

ship Hall. The Children have prepared a short pro-

gram that is sure to provide some Christmas Cheer

to all. The Children continue to be blessed by gen-

erous contributions from the Church Family.

Thank you to all who continue to make this minis-

try possible. See below for a picture from the Chil-

dren’s Thanksgiving ―Happy Meal‖ Feast!

pray about what they can

do for the Lord in 2015.

It really is important to

our Church Council and

to our Committee on

Stewardship and Finances

to have our cooperation

in this matter, for it en-

ables them to have peace

of mind in planning the

future.

In First Peter 4:10 it says,

“As each has received a

gift, use it to serve one

another, as good stewards

of God‟s varied grace.”

C.S. Lewis said, “There

are two kinds of people:

those who say to God,

„Thy will be done,‟ and

those to whom God says,

„All right, then, have it

your way.‟”

I know that you, as a fol-

lower of Christ, desire to

be in that first category of

people. So we must be

faithful stew-

ards...managers... of all

that God trusts us with.

Our time is valuable.

How will you spend it?

Pray about that.

Our talent is whatever we

are able to do. How will

you use your talents for

the Lord?

Our treasures are many

things, but when it comes

to money, one of the true

tests of how we trust

God concerns if we are

willing to give for the min-

istries and missions of the

church.

You can be a part of raising 48 million

dollars in donations for the United Methodist

Church this holiday season! Harvest time is here and many of you are al-

ready planning for the holiday season. This means

time with family and friends. And, let's not forget

about holiday shopping.

Over 50% of families in the US now

do their shopping online! This means that 4 million

Methodists will be shopping for the holidays through

online retailers. If the average Methodist spends

$400 through UMCmarket, that would mean 48

million dollars in donations in the next few

months. This is an amazing opportunity for our

churches!

We need your help!

100% of the donation percentages through

UMCmarket goes to the church. These donations can

really add up and help your local church do so much

more. Now is a perfect time to spread the word and

tell everyone you can about our free donation pro-

gram. Let's not miss out on this opportunity to give

back this holiday season.

The financial status of the church remains strong.

Giving within the church remains strong for the general

budget and the Future Facilities Fund. I hope to explain

how and why your giving goes beyond monetary gifts but

rather translates into changing the direction of people’s

lives. The finance committee looks at direct giving, but

we work toward how the church uses your gifts for effect.

Please keep the below bullet points in mind as

you think about the financial status of the church:

Apportionments are paid in full for the year.

Local and national outreach is paid up to date

and will be fully paid by end of year.

We have ample cash reserves in general

checking, and the Future Facilities Fund con-

tinues to grow.

All areas of the church ministry are paid in

full.

We have incurred a number of physical plant

expanses during the year without any impact

to the church programs.

We have remodeled The Connection Minis-

try Center while maintaining a positive finan-

cial position.

We have funded and continue to support a

preschool on our property.

Please note that all general budget expenses are

paid from the general budget (power, water, salaries, ap-

portionments, etc) while improvements to The Connec-

tion are paid out of the Future Facilities Fund. This sepa-

ration has allowed the church to handle both needed and

unexpected expenses while not impacting the daily mis-

sion of the church.

Please be aware that pledge cards for the 2015

budget should be in your possession. In the past your sub-

mission of the pledge cards has allowed the finance com-

mittee to properly plan the budget for the upcoming year.

Only through your thoughtful efforts has the finance com-

mittee been able to forecast our budget. Please submit your

pledge cards as soon as possible; give with your heart and

mind.

We have great opportunities before us. Our current

position is due to hope, prayer and faith. Your gifts, physi-

cal and monetary, are an earthly reflection of your hope,

prayer, and faith. The finance committee is committed to

guarding your gifts and using them properly.

William J. Spivey
