Where did it place?

The great fire took place in England's financial district, the heart of London. The Fire started in a bakers shop on pudding street shop to Thomas Faynor the royal baker of king Charles II.

What happened?

At 1:00 am the fire began and due to strong winds the fire quickly spread towards the east of London. Buildings on the same street suddenly started igniting. As soon as the church St. Margaret caught fire lots and lots of warehouses filled with timber, coal, oils and tar lit up on Thames Street. Six hours later over three hundred buildings in London were ablaze. Surprisingly the death toll was six people.

When did it take place?

The fire took place on the night of Sunday September 2, 1666 to September 5, 1666.

It took place twelve months after the great plague of 1665.

The fire started at 1 am and ended on the evening of September 5.

How did it take place?

The baker and his family escaped but their maid perished in the fire.

About 13,000 houses, 89 churches and 52 guild halls were destroyed.

The maid failed to put out the stoves fire and that’s when disaster struck.

Who did it?

The maid had failed to put out the fire that night. However people also say an assassin was sent to start the fire. Other than paintings and memories Samuel Pepy was across the Thames that night and experienced the fire spreading. He wrote in his journal as written evidence.

Why Did it happen?

As the maid was not responsible enough to responsibility to put out the fire. That is why it led to a huge tragedy and disaster.
