Life’s Most Important Question

Where will you spend eternity?

Much attention in today’s world isgiven to planning for tomorrow, and agreat deal of importance is placed uponsecuring the future. Yet, many individualsnever give any thought to life’s mostimportant question regarding their eternaldestiny.

Death is a certainty. Though it can bedelayed at times by medical break-throughs and the latest in scientific tech-nology, in the end death is inescapable. The Bible affirms the unquestionable real-ity of death, stating that every person willdie once, adding, “and after that comesthe judgment” (Heb. 9:27). This versefrom Scripture recognizes that death isinevitable and confirms the promise ofjudgment for each individual followingdeath.

What happens to an individual afterdeath occurs? What judgment liesbeyond the grave?

Throughout history man has enter-tained varied philosophies and ideasregarding the “after life.” Volumes havebeen written by those who sought foranswers dealing with unknown issuesrelating to death. While these theorieshave come and gone, the Word of Godremains, revealing the answers that manseeks to life’s most important question:

“Where will you spend eternity?”

The Greatest MiracleNo greater miracle has ever been

recorded than the miraculous transforma-tion that takes place at salvation, as therebellious heart of a penitent man iscleansed from all sin through repentanceand reconciled to a right relationship withGod Almighty through Jesus Christ, HisSon. In only a moment’s time, a desper-ate individual can acknowledge his hope-less eternal state without God, and offer aprayer, crying out for God’s mercy andforgiveness from sin. As a man or womanrepents, the greatest miracle available tomankind takes place as they are cleansedof all sin and born again.

Far greater than any physical phenom-enon, this kind of miracle takes place inthe realm of the spirit, and deals with theeternal destiny of a person. The Biblerecords the words of Jesus when He said,“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except aman be born again, he cannot see thekingdom of God” (John 3:3). To spendeternity in God’s presence, a man must be

born again. It is not optional: “Ye mustbe born again” (John 3:7).

Experiencing The GreatestMiracle

The priceless gift of salvation is freelyavailable to every man, woman, and childwho will repent of sin and believe onJesus Christ, the only begotten Son ofGod.

“For God so loved the world, that hegave his only begotten Son, that whosoev-er believeth in him should not perish, buthave everlasting life. For God sent not hisSon into the world to condemn theworld; but that the world through himmight be saved.” (John 3:16–17)

“But God commendeth his lovetoward us, in that, while we were yet sin-ners, Christ died for us.” (Rom. 5:8)

All Have Sinned

The Bible clearly states that all havesinned. That includes you, along with

Page 6

Page 7: The Greatest Miracle - bennyhinn.org · Benny Hinn No greater miracle has ever been recorded than the transformation that takes place at salvation, as a man’s rebellious heart is

every man, woman, boy, and girl who hasever lived.

“For all have sinned, and come shortof the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23)

“If we say that we have no sin, wedeceive ourselves, and the truth is not inus.” (1 John 1:8)

We are each guilty of sin and rebellionagainst God’s laws. That means we areliable for every transgression and wrong-doing, for all have sinned. When we sinagainst God and break His moral law, weare responsible and held eternallyaccountable.

No good deed or virtuous action canremove sin or change the condition ofman’s heart. The one and only way wecan escape eternal judgment for our sinsand transgressions is to be born again aswe repent of sin.

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent,ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)

“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Excepta man be born again, he cannot see thekingdom of God.” (John 3:3)

The Penalty For Sin

God’s Word states that the penalty orpunishment for sin is death, meaningspiritual death or eternal separation fromGod. Because everyone has sinned, all aredeserving of that punishment.

“For the wages of sin is death; but thegift of God is eternal life through JesusChrist our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23)

“He that believeth and is baptizedshall be saved; but he that believeth notshall be damned.” (Mark 16:16)

God Is Love

God is a loving God, whose love isperfect, holy, and unchanging. Hisunconditional love for mankind has neverwavered but has always remained stead-fast.

It was man (Adam) who sinnedagainst God and violated the loving rela-tionship that existed at creation. Throughdisobedience man turned his back on therelationship he had enjoyed with God and

Page 8

walked away from the fellowship andcommunion he had once known. Eventhen God still loved mankind, and offereda way by which man could be reconciledback to Him through His Son, JesusChrist.

To bridge the gap between God andman, Jesus humbled Himself and took theform of a man. He was fully God andfully man, and came to earth be a sinlesssubstitute for the guilty.

“But God commendeth his lovetoward us, in that, while we were yet sin-ners, Christ died for us.” (Rom. 5:8)

“For God sent not his Son into theworld to condemn the world; but that theworld through him might be saved.”(John 3:17)

“I came not to call the righteous, butsinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:32)

God’s Loving Plan

After the fall of man in the Garden ofEden, sin separated man from a holyGod. As a result of man’s disobedience,

Page 9

Page 10: The Greatest Miracle - bennyhinn.org · Benny Hinn No greater miracle has ever been recorded than the transformation that takes place at salvation, as a man’s rebellious heart is

he was deserving of “spiritual death” oreternal separation from God.

Through disobedience man chose toend his relationship with God. Yet,because God is not willing that any manperish eternally, He took the first step torestore the relationship, sending His onlySon to be a sinless, innocent sacrifice sothat man might be reconciled back to aright relationship with Him. Jesus Christ, the holy, righteous Son of God came toearth to die as a substitute for mankind. He who was innocent came to freely offerHis life for mankind who was guilty.

“The Lord is not slack concerning Hispromise, as some men count slackness;but is long-suffering to us-ward, not will-ing that any should perish, but that allshould come to repentance.” (2 Pet. 3:9)

“For the Son of man is come to seekand to save that which was lost.” (Luke19:10)

Jesus Christ; The Way, TheTruth, and The Life

Jesus Christ was the only sinless manwho ever lived and walked upon theearth. Because He was without sin, Hewas the perfect sacrifice. He willinglybecame our substitute and gave His lifeon the cross of Calvary, shedding Hisblood to atone for sin. He made it possi-ble for all mankind to be free from thepenalty of sin, which is death or eternalseparation from God.

There is no way possible to be savedfrom sin except by identifying yourselfwith Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the onlyway by which man can be saved, for Hesaid, “I am the way, the truth, and thelife: no man cometh unto the Father, butby me” (John 14:6).

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He thatheareth my word, and believeth on himthat sent me, hath everlasting life, andshall not come into condemnation; but ispassed from death unto life.” (John 5:24)

“. . . the blood of Jesus Christ his Soncleanseth us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)

“. . . Unto him that loved us, andwashed us from our sins in his ownblood.” (Rev. 1:5)

God’s Wonderful Gift

Salvation and forgiveness of sin is agift from God Almighty. It is a pricelesstreasure that is freely available to all andcan never come about through any goodworks or virtuous actions on the part ofman. Because of God’s grace and Jesus’sacrificial death on Calvary, you and I canexperience the greatest miracle of all: sal-vation.

The Lord Jesus Christ chose to die inour place, shedding His blood and givingHis life on behalf of sinful humanity.Through Jesus Christ and His shed blood,we are forgiven, cleansed, redeemed, andjustified.

“In whom we have redemptionthrough his blood, the forgiveness of sins,

Page 12

Page 13: The Greatest Miracle - bennyhinn.org · Benny Hinn No greater miracle has ever been recorded than the transformation that takes place at salvation, as a man’s rebellious heart is

according to the riches of His grace.”(Eph. 1:7)

When we are justified through Hisshed blood, our sin is not simply par-doned or overlooked. A far greater mira-cle happens. Our sin is put away as if ithad never existed, and we are pronouncedinnocent of all guilt.

“Much more then, being now justifiedby his blood, we shall be saved fromwrath through him. For if, when we wereenemies, we were reconciled to God bythe death of His Son, much more, beingreconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”(Rom. 5:8–10)

This wonderful gift of salvation is theresult of God’s perfect love and gracetoward man, allowing man to be viewedas innocent and reconciled to God and toenjoy the same kind of relationship withGod that Adam knew in the Garden ofEden.

“For by grace are ye saved throughfaith; and that not of yourselves: it is the

gift of God: Not of works, lest any manshould boast.” (Eph. 2:8–9)

“Knowing that a man is not justifiedby the works of the law, but by the faithof Jesus Christ, even we have believed inJesus Christ, that we might be justified bythe faith of Christ, and not by the worksof the law: for by the works of the lawshall no flesh be justified.” (Gal. 2:16)

“Not by works of righteousness whichwe have done, but according to his mercyhe saved us . . .” (Titus 3:5)

“Come now, and let us reason togeth-er, saith the Lord: though your sins be asscarlet, they shall be as white as snow;though they be red like crimson, theyshall be as wool.” (Isa. 1:18)

To Whom Is This WonderfulGift Offered?

The Word of God clearly states thatthis priceless gift of salvation is availableto every man, woman, and child who willbelieve in Jesus Christ, the only begottenSon of God. That includes you.

“For God so loved the world, that hegave his only begotten Son, that whosoev-er believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

God loved you and everyone else inthe entire world so much that He gaveHis only Son, Jesus Christ, so that anyonewho would believe in Him would notperish (or be separated from Him eternal-ly), but instead have everlasting life, livingin His presence forever and ever.

Look at what God did:

1. God loved the world.

2. God gave His only Son.

The results of God’s actions:

1. That whosoever believes—anyoneand everyone, including you

2. Will not perish—suffer eternal sep-aration and spiritual death

3. But will have everlasting life—liv-ing and abiding in God’s presence forever

“For God sent not his Son into theworld to condemn the world; but that theworld through him might be saved. He

that believeth on him is not condemned:but he that believeth not is condemnedalready, because he hath not believed inthe name of the only begotten Son ofGod.” (John 3:17–18)

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, heis a new creature: old things are passedaway; behold, all things are become new.”(2 Cor. 5:17)

God loved you so much that He gaveHis Son, Jesus Christ, unconditionally tomake a way of atonement for your sins. All you have to do is believe in Him, fol-lowing these steps:

The Steps To Eternal Life

1. Confess Your Sin

The Bible states that all have sinned.Take responsibility for your wrongdoing, your disobedience, your rebellion, andyour sin. Don’t delay. Acknowledge thatyou have sinned and ask Jesus Christ toforgive you and cleanse you from all sin.

Page 16

Page 17: The Greatest Miracle - bennyhinn.org · Benny Hinn No greater miracle has ever been recorded than the transformation that takes place at salvation, as a man’s rebellious heart is

God’s Word promises that if we will con-fess our sins, He will not only forgivethem, but will also cleanse us from allunrighteousness.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithfuland just to forgive us our sins, and tocleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

(1 John 1:9)

If we will do one thing: confess oursin, He promises to do two things: forgiveour sin and cleanse us from all unright-eousness.

“He that covereth his sins shall notprosper: but whoso confesseth and for-saketh them shall have mercy.” (Prov.28:13)

“That if thou shalt confess with thymouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe inthine heart that God hath raised himfrom the dead, thou shalt be saved. Forwith the heart man believeth unto right-eousness; and with the mouth confessionis made unto salvation.” (Rom. 10:9–10)

Page 17

2. Invite Him In

Pray sincerely, asking Jesus Christ toforgive and cleanse you from all sin. Stopgoing your own way, and invite JesusChrist into your life today. Choose tomake Him a part of everything you do.God’s Word promises that when you openthe door of your heart and life to Him,He will come in and fellowship with you. When you do these things, a miracle hap-pens: Jesus Christ becomes your Saviorand you are born again.

“Behold, I stand at the door, andknock: if any man hear my voice, andopen the door, I will come in to him, andwill sup with him, and he with Me.”(Rev. 3:20)

“For with the heart man believethunto righteousness; and with the mouthconfession is made unto salvation.”(Rom. 10:10)

3. The Miracle of Salvation

Salvation is promised to anyone whowill confess with his or her mouth the

Page 18

Page 19: The Greatest Miracle - bennyhinn.org · Benny Hinn No greater miracle has ever been recorded than the transformation that takes place at salvation, as a man’s rebellious heart is

Lord Jesus, and believe in their heart thatGod raised Him (Jesus) from the dead. Itis not enough to believe that Jesus livedand walked on earth. It was His death, burial, and resurrection from the gravethat proved He was the Son of God andgave Him power and authority over sinand death.

“Moreover, brethren, I declare untoyou the gospel which I preached untoyou, which also ye have received, andwherein ye stand; By which also ye aresaved, if ye keep in memory what Ipreached unto you, unless ye havebelieved in vain. For I delivered unto youfirst of all that which I also received, howthat Christ died for our sins according tothe scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third dayaccording to the scriptures: And that hewas seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:After that he was seen of above five hun-dred brethren at once.” (1 Cor. 15:1–6)

When the miracle of salvation takesplace and an individual is born again, theWord of God declares that our sins are

Page 19

Page 20: The Greatest Miracle - bennyhinn.org · Benny Hinn No greater miracle has ever been recorded than the transformation that takes place at salvation, as a man’s rebellious heart is

not remembered against us. It is as ifthey never happened.

“For I will be merciful to theirunrighteousness, and their sins and theiriniquities will I remember no more.”(Heb. 8:12)

4. Walk In His Ways

The transformation that occurs in thelife of the man or woman who has repent-ed of sin and made Jesus Christ the Lordand Savior of their life takes place within, yet the evidence of that transformationbecomes apparent from the outside aswell. As we learn to walk in His ways, many of the things that once were soimportant no longer matter. As you walkin His ways through daily obedience, youbegin to love the things God loves andhate the things God hates.

“There is therefore now no condem-nation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after theSpirit,” (Rom. 8:1)

Page 20

“And walk in love, as Christ also hathloved us, and hath given himself for us anoffering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor.” (Eph. 5:2)

A New Beginning

The moment you are born again, anincredible new adventure begins.Everything is new! Because you prayedsincerely, asking God to forgive andcleanse you from your sin, the Biblepromises forgiveness from every wrongdo-ing you have ever committed. It’s likebeginning a new life. Scripture declaresthat God will not remember the sins ofyesterday against you. They are goneeternally, and it’s as if they never hap-pened.

“Let the wicked forsake his way, andthe unrighteous man his thoughts: and lethim return unto the Lord, and he willhave mercy upon him; and to our God,for he will abundantly pardon.” (Isa.55:7)

“. . . the blood of Jesus Christ his Soncleanseth us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)

“As far as the east is from the west, sofar hath he removed our transgressionsfrom us.” (Psa. 103:12)

“But as many as received him, to themgave he power to become the sons ofGod, even to them that believe on hisname.” (John 1:12)

“Being justified freely by his gracethrough the redemption that is in ChristJesus: Whom God hath set forth to be apropitiation through faith in his blood, todeclare his righteousness for the remissionof sins that are past, through the forbear-ance of God; To declare, I say, at this timehis righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth inJesus.” (Rom. 3:24–26)

How Can I Know That I HaveBeen Born Again?

One who has been born again lovesthe things that God loves and hates thethings that God hates. This is clearly out-lined in the Bible, the believer’s handbookfor life. A true Christian will desire toobey God’s Word and follow what theBible says. As you apply the principles ofthe Bible to your life, you will grow andmature as a Christian.

and he that hath not the Son of God hathnot life. These things have I written untoyou that believe on the name of the Sonof God; that ye may know that ye haveeternal life, and that ye may believe onthe name of the Son of God.” (1 John5:11–13)

“There is therefore now no condem-nation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after theSpirit.” (Rom. 8:1)

Jesus said a true Christian can beidentified by their fruits or actions (by theway they live their life).

“Ye shall know them by their fruits.”(Matt. 7:16)
