On 4th August, 1914, Great Britain declared war

on Germany and entered what was to become

known as ‘The Great War of 1914 to 1918’.

intending to dominate Europe and the world, by

force, and that most people believed that the

intentions of the Germans should be stopped.

During August and September, soldiers of the

British Expeditionary Force [ B. E. F. ] crossed to

France.
