The Group Performance in the Third Quarter of 2010
Outstanding Financial Performance
• The Group’s total assets roseby 19%, to reach USD 11.790billion during the first ninemonths of 2010 from USD9.921 billion
• Customers’ deposits regis-tered an increase of 15%,totaling USD 9.560 billion asat end of September 2010compared to USD 8.320 billionas at end of September 2009
• Net loans and advances tocustomers showed anincrease of 37%, reachingUSD 2.915 billion as at end ofSeptember 2010 up from USD2.124 billion as at end ofSeptember 2009
• Shareholders’ equity alsoincreased by a remarkable47%, amounting to USD 1.366billion as at end of September2010 compared to USD 927million as at end of September2009
• Net interest income regis-tered a 27% increase,amounting to USD 195 millionduring the first nine months of2010 from USD 153 million forthe same period of last year
• Net fee & commission incomeregistered an increase of 32%,thus scoring USD 33.7 millionduring the first nine months of2010 moving from USD 25.5million in the first ninemonths of 2009
• Total operating expensesincreased by 17% between thefirst nine months of 2009 and2010.
Fransabank Group continued to score record achievements and
substantial growth during the third quarter of 2010. The results of its
outstanding performance were all translated through its financial
results which registered a remarkable 43% growth in its net profits
amounting to USD 106.70 million in the first nine months 2010 as
compared to USD 74.78 million in the same period of the previous year.

Fransabank Enlisted Among Top 1000 Banks
in the World
The rankings are based on Tier One Capital at year end-2009 asdefined by the Basel Bank for International Settlements. For 2010,Fransabank is one of the 25 banks in the Middle East, of which sixare Lebanese, who made it to the top 1000 commercial banks world-wide.
According to the survey, Fransabank ranked 9th among the 25Middle Eastern banks and posted an annual increase in Tier Onecapital of 23.6%; jumping 54 spots to reach overall the 625th rankamong top 1000 commercial banks worldwide.
Fransabank was once again enlisted in the renowned The
Banker’s magazine - part of The Financial Times Group - survey of
the Top 1000 commercial banks in the world for the year 2010.
Successful Closure
of Preferred Shares
Fransabank successfully closedits second issuance of PreferredShares for the year 2010,Fransabank Series B PreferredShares. The shares are Tier I,non–cumulative, convertible andredeemable.
Due to high investor demand,the offering was oversubscribed,resulting in a final issue amountof USD 85 million. Pricing wasalso very favorable, resulting ina final dividend yield of 6.75%p.a. Demand came from bothprivate and institutionalinvestors both in Lebanon andabroad, whereby the finalallocation of the preferredshares reached 65% Lebaneseinvestors and 35% non-Lebanese.
The aim of the issue is toreinforce Fransabank’s Group’sexpansion and development inLebanon and in other promisingmarkets of the region.

Pioneering Housing Loan Initiatives:Giving Shelter to the Displaced and Social Security to the Members of the Internal Security Forces
“Displaced Loan” is the first inthe market to be launched in ajoint effort with the Ministry ofLebanese Displaced. Through it,Fransabank hopes to give theproper social and civil supportfor the development of theLebanese community in generaland the return of its stability in aconcrete manner particularly.The initiative falls withinFransabank’s social corporateresponsibility which it continuouslyseeks to contribute to the effectiveeconomic and social developmentof Lebanon, as well as to theimprovement of the socialconditions of all Lebanese citizens.It is one of the basic humanrights to give every person propershelter, and it is equally one ofthe most basic rights of thecountry on all businesses toeradicate any trace of the civilwar.
It is worth noting that the“Displaced Loan” provides each
Lebanese displaced theopportunity to reconstruct,renovate, repair or improvehis/her house in any of theLebanese villages that weredevastated by the displacementthat occurred before 1990. AnyLebanese displaced can benefitfrom a financing amount thatcan reach up to 60% of thespeculative value of the property,and an exceptional interest rateof 1.628%, with a repaymentperiod reaching 25 years.

the Banks’ Employees Basketball Tournament for the year 2010, in
a thrilling final game against BLOM Bank - the winning team for
Banks’ Employees Basketball Tournament over several consecutive
