Congratulations to those at St. Julie’s who are receiving Holy Communion for the first time this weekend! We are getting close to the end of the school year. With two schools and a vital PREP program within our region – each with just under or just over 200 students – it takes a lot of helpers lending a hand. As we near the end of the year I give a sincere thanks to the many people who volunteer as classroom aids, in our cafeteria, as PREP catechists, with PTO/EPIC, et. al. Thank you for helping us give the best learning environment for our kids. In this weekend’s gospel we hear Jesus say “This is my commandment: that you love one another as I have loved you.” We also continue to hear from the Acts of the Apostles, which shows us how early Christians carried out the command to love one another after receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. It’s important to recall that we love, not just as a sentiment in the heart, but in concrete words and concrete actions. Love forms the pattern for how we relate to the people closest to us each day – and some days it takes a real effort. In two weeks God renews his Church with the gift of the Holy Spirit as we celebrate Pentecost. In preparation I encourage you to pray a novena to the Holy Spirit beginning on May 10, Thursday of this week. St. Julie’s pastoral council and St. Joseph pastoral council will meet this week. Those nominated to serve as new members will be contacted and invited to a discernment meeting in June. What a joy to know, love, and serve the good God!

In Christ,

A Pentecost Novena O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, grant to us now the same Holy Spirit that He may perfect the work of Your grace and Your love in my soul and in our Hamilton Catholic Pastoral Region. Grant me the Spirit of Wis-dom to value things that are eternal, the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten with Your divine truth, the Spirit of Counsel to choose to please God and gain heaven, the Spirit of Fortitude to overcome obstacles that oppose my salvation, the Spirit of Knowledge to know God and know myself before Him, the Spirit of Piety to delight in the Lord, and the Spirit of Fear to honor God in all I do. PLEASE USE THE MAINTENANCE ENVE-LOPE ONCE DURING THE MONTH OF

MAY. Thank you!

The Community Meal Center at Front Street Presbyterian Church on the 3rd Friday of every month at 3:30 P.M. is St. Peter’s Night. Help is always needed! A great family ex-pression of our faith. Hope to see you there.

Guide Book & Directory Advertising Opportunity We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book & Directory for the church. This book will contain everything pertinent to our church: the various ministries, organizations, committees, activities, functions and events plus a complete directory of all members. This book is being provided and direct-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and it is again being subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call the Church Office.

Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser. It “will pay” to advertise in our new Guide Book & Directory.

Update Membership Information Does our Church database have YOUR family membership record correct?

Here is your chance to update YOUR record for our annual Guide Book & Directory (if you haven’t already done so).

It is time for us to update our database with any changes, additions, or deletions that may have occurred in YOUR family over the past year.

Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved? Are you preparing to move soon? Are all of your children still at home and are they all included in your membership record? Do you want your record published?

If you have not already informed the Parish Office about changes to your record, please let us know now so that the information in the Guide Book & Directory is correct. The Parish Office number is 863-3938 or email Lisa Stricker at [email protected].

May Crowning Please fill out a form in the main church entrance if you would like to be in the drawing to be the person to crown Mary in our May Procession on Sunday May 20 after the 9:15 am Mass. We thank the Altar Rosary Society for organizing this traditional procession to honor the Mother of Christ! Join us for song and prayer around 10:30 am that day in church. Our First Communi-cants have been asked to come in their spe-cial outfits to lead us in the procession.

PREP Our Parish Religious Education Program has completed the 2017-18 year. Please keep all the families and catechists in your prayers. Thank you for your support of 200 children who learn more about the Catholic faith and grow closer to God! Please regis-ter for 2018-19 PREP now using the forms at the main church entrance. Children come to classes for a full year prior to the year they receive a sacrament. Contact Mary Pat Austing with any questions.

CLOW

Children’s Liturgy of the Word will be held until May 20. If you would like to observe a session, please join the children in the procession during the 9:15 or 11:45 am Masses. We need a few more teens or adults who would like to present the Gospel on a child’s level or assist in the class. Teacher manuals are supplied and support is given throughout the school year. Volunteers generally volunteer once a month during Mass time. What a wonderful way to encourage our next generation of believers! Contact Mary Pat Austing or Pilar Hernandez for more information: [email protected] or [email protected] .
