Merry Christmas! Today’s feast of the Epiphany is the 12th day of Christmas. In some cultures today is celebrated with more enthusiasm than December 25 – either custom is good. January is a busy month for our pastoral region and for the Catholic Church as a whole. I want you to have a head’s up. There will be three bulletin inserts this month and one or two appeals made at the end of the month. Whether it is a nation, a family, a company, or the Church, a group is only as strong as its members. These appeals are ways to build up the Body of Christ, the Church – understanding that no one of us can do it all, but we all have some gift, large or small. The wise men brought their gifts to Jesus; we bring our gifts to his Body, the Church. Please be generous in allowing the Lord to work through you. This weekend’s insert shares the struggles and courage of people who have fled from difficult circumstances. As part of a universal Church (Catholic means universal), the bishops of the United States want to call our attention to issues of migration and its effects on some of our brothers and sisters in Christ and challenges to the dignity of the human person here and in other parts of the world. Next weekend will include an insert with ministries and possible areas of involvement. I am impressed and grateful by the dedication of those of our pastoral region who are already involved. If you have not been very involved in your parish – in the recent past or ever – please give generous consideration to where you might strengthen the Church. The third insert will announce the open houses and pre-school for each of our schools. Let us adore Christ alongside the Magi. In Christ,

Prayer to St. Joseph

Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt be-fore the throne of God. I place in you all my interests and desires.

Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain

for me from your divine Son all spir-itual blessings, through Jesus Christ,

our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I

may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fa-

thers.

Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you,

and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He repos-es near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls - Pray for

me.

This prayer was found in the fifteenth year of Our Lord and Sav-ior Jesus Christ. In 1505 it was sent from the Pope to Emperor Charles

when he was going into battle. Whoever shall read this prayer or

hear it or keep it about themselves, shall never die a sudden death, or be drowned, not shall poison take effect of them; neither shall they

fall into the hands of the enemy; or shall be burned in any fire, or shall

be overpowered in battle.

Say for nine mornings for anything you may desire. It has never been

known to fail, so be sure you really want what you ask.

We would like to thank and welcome the new members to our liturgy ministries:

You will find it personally reward-ing to bring the joy and comfort of Holy Communion to people who desper-ately want to receive our Lord through the Sacrament. We currently have need of 2 or 3 Eucharistic Visitors to give one hour a week. If you’re unable to commit to 1 hour a week, that’s not a problem! You can commit to every other week or sign up as an alternate. Not trained? That’s not a problem either! Training is easy and you’ll have someone with you the first few weeks until you’re comfortable. Please contact Denise Anson at: [email protected] or 513-863-8412.
