Welcome to the veryfirst of ourSPECIAL AGENTPROFILE UPDATES!You’re receiving this newsletter because you’re a successful agent and we won’t beat around the bush – we are

looking at expanding our team! As you may already know, RE/MAX Profile’s all about offering agents the best

environment to build their businesses and has been frequently quoted as “a great place to come to work and make

money!” While I would dearly love to have more opportunities to talk with everyone personally on a more regular basis,

some weeks and months zoom by at a crazy pace… hence the idea of sharing our news and spreading the word

about Profile’s many individual and collective successes in a regular newsletter!

We’d like to offer you the opportunity to get to know

us and how we operate and a unique chance to

explore our business, with absolutely no pressure,

from the comfort of your own living room. Many

years of industry experience have taught me that

successful agents are mostly happy agents and you

are very possibly content where you are, despite

knowing there’s a whole lot of money to be made at

RE/MAX. But we’d definitely like to keep in contact

with you for if you ever decide the time is right to

make a change.

No new kids on THIS BLOCK! Did you know that RE/MAX Profile only hires agents who are already workingin real estate? We know from personal experience the frustrations of therevolving door syndrome where new agents are coming and going all of thetime.

So we made a very important decision about five years ago to only hireexperienced agents and it has led to success upon success.

Our agents are very thankful! There is nothing better than working with true professionals who are as committed tothe industry as you are.

In fact, several of our agents previously had their own offices and decided that they would rather have the freedom, flexibility and money available at RE/MAX than the stress, overheads and staffing issues that can go with owning anoffice.

So why RE/MAX?There’s an old story that’s found in many different parts of the world. It

goes something like this: an old king is dying and is concerned that his

many relatives will start to squabble over the kingdom and ultimately tear it

apart and bring it to ruin. So he asks his faithful servant to bring some

twigs into the royal chamber where the entire family has gathered. The

king then commands each of his relatives to take a stick and attempt to

break it. Each person easily snaps their twig in half. The king then orders

for a pile of twigs to be tied together and, once again, for everyone to

make an attempt to break them. This time no one is able to break any of

the twigs because they’re bundled together. Put simply that’s how

RE/MAX works: though we’re competitive in the market and each of our

agents enjoys their autonomy, we (and our clients) have the massive

advantage of being able to benefit from the sheer scope and strength of

cooperating as a team.

In fact, our team culture is so powerful that Profile won the award for top recruitment office for RE/MAX Australia last

year. This means that from all of the offices in Australia, we grew by the most agents, all of whom are experienced.

2012 has certainly been a good one so far for us. Our team is flying – making sales every day. This year we have

been consistently in the top ten offices nationally for RE/MAX and even though we’re still only in the first four months

of this year and we’re all told the market is in the doldrums, our sales are already up just over 50% on last year – a

tribute to our terrific sales people! Last month three of our agents in the top performers list were: Rod Westerhuis and

Rob and Cayne Hyde. Well done guys!

Since moving away from personal sales two years ago, I’ve had more time to focus on

building our team, property management portfolio and maximising profitability for our

agents. After all, as we all know - it’s not just about how much you sell so much as

how much you keep! If you’re interested in how much a Profile RE/MAX agent

personally gets to keep, just email me for a copy of our commission comparison

calculator at: ([email protected]) with “commission calculator” as the

subject and I’ll forward you a copy for you to compare our structure to your current

deal.

Needless to say, we respect confidentiality and would like to reassure you

that we always treat any agent interest or enquiry with the utmost discretion.

We hope you enjoy this insight into our business and hope to catch up with

you soon – maybe even making it more regular by working together!

PROFILE REAL ESTATE

Dear Christina,

I would like to thank you and Grant for being so welcoming when I joined

your office. My decision was based on the premise that to run your own

office, which I was doing at Centenary, comes at a much greater cost than

just the rental of premises. Both my clients and income were suffering

dramatically due to time required to assist my sales people and run an office

and, considering I am not happy unless things are done a certain way, time

doing what I do best was being compromised.

Your office gives me all the professional tools that I require, so taking a step

back to go forwards was an easy decision for me. I am now able to do what I

do best: list and sell which as you know are the only productive duties we

have on a daily basis. The transition has been made easy by your friendly

and efficient staff.

Thank you for your guidance and help. It’s great to have freedom.

Every day I wake up, I feel a great day coming on. It was not like that a

month ago! Thanks again Christina and Grant and thanks to your fantastic

team of agents and office support for just being so welcoming, You run a

great office and you definitely have the right formula.

CONGRATULATIONS, YOU DESERVE IT!!!!

Q & A with BETTE McGUANE

Why Did You Choose RE/MAX Profile When You Decided To Return To RE/MAX?

Bette: Because of you of course, your calls made to me in the past made me think of you immediately and I have a

lot of respect for you, along with your team, who work in all areas of Brisbane successfully from your office.

Having Owned Your Own Office Why Would You Choose To Work With RE/MAX Instead Of Continuing?

Bette: Where do I start??? After beginning my real estate career with RE/MAX I realised quite some time after, I had

made a huge mistake by leaving to go and run my own office. It isn’t easy owning and managing an office as well as

listing and selling. Something had to give. Of course it was my income and constant contact and relationships with

buyers and sellers that suffered, which amounted to a loss of homes and income $$$$. The only winners in this were

other RE/MAX agents, so all my sales, which were less than half of what I was previously doing, went back into the

rent and wages, along with our savings. Big mistake but I have moved forward now and I am loving it.

How Did You Find The Transition To RE/MAX Profile? Has It Taken You Long To Settle In And Make Money?

Bette: The transition was so easy: A lot different than the transition from RE/MAX to my own agency. All of the

support from you and the team made it a breeze and the income was immediate. All I had to worry about was listing

and selling - very simple really! That is what I love to do and no stress. What was I thinking - if I had answered your

call and met with you earlier, I wouldn’t be in the situation I’m in today. However, I learned a very valuable lesson as

the risks I took turned out to be soul destroying.

Any Other Comments You Would Like To Share With Other Agents?

Bette: Only that if any agent is even thinking about owning an office, you must do some really in-depth research into

the costs. Rent, wages, office equipment, set up, trust account audits 3-4 times per year, realestate.com.au, rpdata,

staff superannuation, holiday and sick leave, franchise fees, plus the percentage of your sales, stationery – it never

ends. Have a bad couple of months and you start sinking into your savings. To be successful you need to be either

an office manager or a sales agent and frankly you can’t be both, so be prepared to have to pay an office manager.

PROFILE REAL ESTATE

Okay so we’re a career-obsessed bunch, but it’s not all hard work for us at Profile. Recently we enjoyed a great night

together at the Blueroom Cinebar. We booked a cinema for ourselves, had a few drinks and enjoyed Salmon Fishing

in the Yemen. Quirky title aside, it actually turned out to be the perfect choice of movie given that it was ultimately all

about vision, determination and devotion to achieving your goals! The movie was very funny and there was lots of

laughter throughout, but even better was the fact that our team had already started laughing way before the movie

started. For me, that’s something I really cherish about our office – all the camaraderie.

Special guests to join us were the Managing Director of RE/MAX Australia, Michael Davoren and Shawna Gilbert from

RE/MAX LLC (International).

Michael had the following to say:

“Recently I was invited to a movie evening held by Grant and Christina

Penrose for their team based at their RE/MAX office in Bardon. Aside from

enjoying a great movie in luxurious comfort, I got something much more.

From the moment I arrived it was obvious this was not just a work event

but a gathering of people who not only work together but also love being

together outside of the office. There was a wonderful camaraderie which is

a direct result of great leadership.

Having fun is a critical element in a successful business and a sign of the

respect everyone has for the leadership and other staff. It was obvious to me

that this is one of the reasons why Christina and Grant attract such

successful people to work and succeed with them.”

And Speaking of CELEBRATION…One of our wonderful property managers, Chelsea, has only just returned from her

honeymoon after having a fabulous wedding at The Little White Wedding Church at

Maleny and then honeymooning in Oahu & Maui! Hawaii – if we didn’t share such a

culture of celebrating each other’s pleasures and successes we could be forgiven for

being just a tad envious about that one… Seriously, it’s great to have her back.

Our agents are always paid the first week’s rent for all their referrals to our

property management department and then they get the properties back to

sell when the time comes!

It was greatto have that external recognition andacknowledgment of what we all experience at Profile. As one of ouragents, Rob Hyde, says: “Teamwork and bringing in the FUN ELEMENT into our workenvironment is essential; getting to know people is invaluable. Movie nights and similar events, in mymind, are fabulous. Getting to know your work colleagues better builds trust amongst agents and acollaboration between everyone at a higher level. RE/MAX is a business that thrives on achievement andthe celebration of success is always best amongst those you are familiar with and trust. A positive workenvironment goes a long way, every day. Creating an irresistible office environment, is all about thepeople, your team, your backup and achieving our common and individual goals. Something we do well atRE/MAX Profile!”

Q & A with ROD WESTERHUISRod, you get calls from other agencies all the time so why do you continue to work withRE/MAX Profile?Rod: “I have worked at RE/MAX Profile for over nine years. I have never had one reason tomove agencies. I have received several offers to change ‘colours’ - but feel that theenvironment and team culture of RE/MAX Profile is one that could not be matchedelsewhere. The Principal and Sales Manager have provided an open door policy throughoutmy time with them and have provided the tools and coaching that keep my business moving forward at all times.RE/MAX Profile is an integral part of my success to date.”

Grant Penrose helped you to get your auctioneer’s license, do you think this has helped your business?Rod: “YES. Working with Grant was invaluable.
