Welcome back to the Hinckley Legacy! We are currently in generation 5, and we are followingour heiress Lana through her journey in college. Here she is pictured with her boyfriend androom-mate from last chapter Hunter. Hunter is going to start off our story, and then Lana will

take over half way through.

I hope you all enjoy the chapter, especially with the slightly different style than usual. Where do I begin? Well, despite the sappy cover for this chapter, Lana and I have had a roughcouple of years since you last heard from us. It all started with that horrible cow asscot comingin and trying to make a move on Lana. Let's just say I didn't take it well, and things only got

worse. But, before I say too much, let's take a trip back in time and let the story tell itself...

It all started one night when Lana was obviously tired of eating my famous fried gouda on rye.As Lana slept in my delicate sandwich creation, I heard a taxi pull up. I wasn't expecting anyvisitors, but Lana had mentioned something about one of her cousins maybe moving in with us

at one point, but it had never been officially decided.

But there stood Elyse Hinckley, Lana's beautiful cousin. There she stood looking as innocent aspie, a nice little family minded girl--or so we thought.

Elyse made it her mission to seek out her cousin, my Lana, and become friends with her again."Lana, I can't believe we haven't seen each other since we were kids! You are such a beautynow! I wish I had your gorgeous red hair!"

Elyse was right, Lana was a beautiful girl, beautiful big brown eyes, and fire red hair that drivesme wild! At the time though, I was still a bit angry at her for not resisting the asscot's advances, Iknew she was beautiful, but she was my girl, I didn't want to share. Is that selfish?

Another big change in our lives came with the sudden change in weather, or should I say actualweather! It wasn't just sunshine all the time anymore, and I'm not just talking about the weather.

I started to suspect something the day Lana's younger sister Liza showed up at our rentalunannounced.

Especially when Lana didn't seem too fond of it herself.

Now, don't get me wrong, Liza sure looks like a little angel here, but when she's coerced youhad better watch out!

After a long talk, Lana and Liza made amends. Liza seemed so charming, so charming thatLana threw away her suspicion and embraced her younger sister and all of her quirks.

All of this was thrown out the window when I got home from a late class that night, to find Lizarunning towards me. What did this girl want, and why did she want whatever it is so quickly?

"Hunter, it's Hunter right? Well, I know you're in love with my sister and all, but you've got to getyour eyes checked! Have you even taken a notice of my cousin Elyse? Now that's real beauty,intelligence and wit all wrapped up into one nice little package.""Why would you say such things Liza! About your own sister! You should be ashamed to evenconsider me looking on yourcousin in any other light than friendship. I'm in love with your sister,and you should be happy for us!""Hunter, are you blind? Seriously! Do I really have to remind you that my sister cheated onyou?""She didn't cheat on me, that was the mascot's fault""She could've resisted!"

And that's when sadly my immature anger won out, and I found myself furious with the only girl Ihad ever loved!

As I walked inside that night to go to sleep, I saw Elyse and Liza sitting on the couch chatting,but I didn't catch any of their conversation. The smirks on their faces should have clued me in totheir deception, but I was too blind with spite as I walked upstairs that night.

As I went to sleep that night, Lana was thinking about the day that she and I first met and howshe was happily in love. She whispered to me:"I love you Hunter"But I was already asleep and didn't hear her.

That night I thought I woke up to Elyse saying my name, but I think I must've eaten too muchgouda on rye that day. I get some strange dreams when I mix those two together!

"I should be the rightful heiress of the Hinckley legacy! I should be the one in bed with Hunterright now! I should be the one, not that boastful red head of a cousin!" Elyse thought as shewent to bed that night, only a few rooms away from Lana and Hunter.

As days went by, Lana became suspicious of her cousin's motives, she spoke her concerns tome one breakfast."Hunter, I don't know what to do about Elyse, she's making me nervous! I feel like she's trying toseduce you, and take you away from me!""Lana, you're just being paranoid, Elyse is a sweet girl, she wouldn't do anything like that."

As I spoke to Lana, Elyse was upstairs in her room chatting with Liza about how Lana and Iwere still together, and that it was time to take some serious action.

"Lana, I really think you're over-reacting. Elyse wouldn't do anything like that--quiet now withyour silliness, she's coming down right now."

"So Lana, how are you doing this morning? Oh, I see you're already dressed for the day. I knowyou love green and all, but maybe you should think about getting some new threads sweety, it isgetting colder and you have been wearing that outfit for too long!"Lana just sat there eating her sandwich, as I thought about what Lana had just said. As she

finished her sandwich, she told us that she needed to go write a paper for class and then leftthe table.

I too needed to write a paper that morning, so I asked Elyse if I could use her computer thatmorning while Lana was using ours. Of course she agreed, why wouldn't she?

"Leah, I have a really bad feeling about Elyse."...."Elyse, you know, Uncle Christian's daughter, our cousin."....

"Right, her. Well, she's living with us now, and I think that she's trying to tear Hunter and I apart.I really need some moral support over here, can you call Luke and Lacey and tell them what'sup."...."Thanks Leah! I don't know what I'd do without you guys!"

Upstairs, as I typed up my paper, Elyse followed me."Don't mind me Hunter, babe, I just need to relax a little bit, I think I woke up too early so I'm justgoing to lay down for a bit."I didn't turn around, but I knew Elyse was still in her revealing nightie, I didn't know what she

was up to, but I didn't like it.

Later that day, I decided to make some use of the treadmill Lana had purchased for me. As ahealth nut she was worried about my cheese, butter and bread diet, so I obliged her and run fora couple minutes every now and then just to keep her off my back--but as usual Elyse had otherideas.

"Hey Hunter, you should really get your cute little self off of that treadmill. Men with meat onthem are much more attractive than a scrawny little boy. I know Lana doesn't ever say that, butshe doesn't see you the way I do. Come on, I made a fried gouda on rye just for you."

What can I say, I have a weakness for cheese, and it wasn't exactly a secret. As I ate, I was tooenamored in cheesy delight to realize what Elyse was doing. I can't believe I didn't see itcoming.

After inviting her family inside, Lana, Ivy and Luke sat around the dining room table to discussLana's future."Lana, you were the one chosen to continue our family's legacy, not Elyse, not me, not Leah,not Lacey, Liza or any of our many cousins--you Lana-- you are the one that has to carry on our

family's name!""But Luke, I don't know how I can go on here any longer, I am fed up with Hunter just as muchas I am with Elyse. He's just so dense! All he ever thinks about is his cheese!"

While the three musketeers were in the other room planning my fate, I sat on the couch asElyse typed away on her term paper. I had no idea that Lana was planning on leaving us.

Looking back, I should've seen all of it coming, all of those longing looks from Elyse, all of thosetimes she got just a little bit closer to me on the couch, the way that she sometimes whisperedmy name, or called me babe. Looking back, it couldn't have been more obvious.

When the phone rang that day, I didn't think anything of it when Elyse called Lana to the phone.Leah or one of Lana's other siblings were always calling her up to chat, why would this be anydifferent.

That is until I overheard Lana on my way to class."Hello"...."BJ! Darling! It's been forever! How are you doing sweety?"

I didn't know who this BJ guy was, but he certainly shouldn't be a "darling" or a "sweety"

Elyse told me later that Lana was talking to BJ the whole time I was at class. Did my baby planon leaving me? I didn't know what to think, and Elyse only fueled any suspicions I had. She toldme that she thought Lana was cheating on me with BJ, why else would she be on the phonewith the guy for 2 hours? I didn't want to believe her, but how couldn't I?

Eating my dinner alone that night, I tried to not think about what Elyse had said. Was she reallyonly trying to cause trouble like Lana suspected? I didn't know what to think, how could I trustLana after she let the cow mascot flirt with her. I guess I'm not very good at forgiving andforgetting.

"Oh, did I wake you Elyse? Since you're up, I have something to tell you. After my finals arethrough, I am moving out, and I trust Hunter to make the right decision once I'm gone. If not,he's all yours."

Elyse didn't say a single word and made her bed as she made up her mind. She was going tohave me, and it would be so easy now with Lana leaving. Elyse had gotten what she had wishedfor.

Elyse certainly didn't waste any time as she climbed into bed next to me as I slept.

I didn't remember doing anything with Elyse... but from the look on her face, I didn't know whatto think!

It was my last morning at the rental, my final exam was that afternoon, and I was going to be aJunior. Everyone was silent as they ate their fried gouda on rye. I must admit I'm not going to besad when I'm not eating grilled cheese for every meal, growing up with Grandma Jo my life hasbeen full of this cheesy concoction, and I'm a bit sick of it. I can't wait to be out of here and to

see what my future holds for me, maybe I'll invite BJ over once I get settled in to the Greekhouse.

I of course got an A+ on my final exam, earning another $1,200 in scholarships.

Luke and Ivy didn't waste any time in calling me up, they said they'd be over soon to initiate meinto the Greek house, I couldn't wait.

With my last scholarship at the rental, I purchased a compost bin and a lemon tree, I wouldneed something to keep my mind off of Hunter and Elyse once I had gotten to the family Greekhouse, Urele-Var.

It was no surprise that all Luke and Ivy had to do was show up in togas and I was accepted intothe Greek house, it makes things so much easier when there's only two members living in thehouse and you're friends with them already.

Before I could move out, Elyse approached me."You are making a big mistake Lana, Hunter will be mine, he was going to be mine even withyou still in the house. Have fun at your silly Greek house at Sim State University, and don't evercome back here!"

I wasn't planning on ever coming back, so I didn't even answer Elyse's taunts. How could mycousin be so bitter towards me? What did I ever do to her?

As I left Academie Le Tour, Hunter barely made it out of the rental to wish me off.

I don't know what he was thinking that day as I left, but Elyse's thoughts were loud and clear.

Before I went back home, I decided to stop by Lacey and Sam's dorm, especially since my bestfriend and her boyfriend (coincidentally Elyse's brother) had just moved in.

Molly, my best friend from high school had let Sam give her a makeover, and she loved it. Thatwas another reason why I was dropping by their dorm before leaving Academie Le Tour forgood, Molly convinced me that I needed a make over before I left.

Molly didn't waste a moment in running out to greet me, I had barely recognized her with hernew haircut, it was so adorable though!

When I arrived at Urele-Var, I knew this was where I was meant to be all along. My responsibilityfor my family was finally starting to sink in, I was the one who needed to carry this on, and to dothat, I was going to be making some changes, first starting with this Greek house.

I had told Ivy and Luke about wanting to start a garden when I got to the house, and I guessthey really took me seriously. They had a construction crew come over and build a green housefor me. And although it was tiny, I was going to make the best of it. I was so thankful that Ivy andLuke cared this much about me, I really felt at home.

It's funny how different life is here at SSU, everyone seems to know who I am, and whenever Ivisit campus I always end up coming home with some free pizza or furniture. When I was talkingabout the pizza with Ivy, she laughed and said that's why we have three exercise machines inthe house.

BJ was starting to call me everyday to check up on me. I was really flattered, I mean, we hadbeen friends since I was a teenager, but there was just something about him now that... I don'tknow, nevermind, I'm just being silly!

I took my gardening very seriously, rain or shine, my trees and tomato plants were up at the topof my list.

The night after Luke graduated summa cum laude (surprise surprise right?) he decided toprepare a dinner of bass that he had caught earlier that day with squash. For privacy he put upcurtains, how adorable is that! And then, he asked Ivy to marry him. Could my brother be anymore of a sap?

Of course Ivy accepted his proposal, the two have been madly in love since their freshman yearin college. Luke will have to wait a whole year for Ivy to graduate, but I know he'll probably havea whole house waiting for her once she graduates and be chief of staff--that's just Luke.

I was really happy for Luke and Ivy, especially since Ivy and I had become great friends, shealready felt like she was part of the family. Despite my happiness though, I still felt really lonely,after being so close to Hunter and then having no contact with the opposite sex since, I was alonely gal.

The next day, I had some free time and decided to greet a perfect stranger... it didn't hurt thatthat stranger was attractive--I guess I was inspired by Luke and Ivy. Anyway, his name is DonVu, and we seem to have a lot in common.

We ended up spending the whole day and all night together just getting to know each other. Icould tell we were going to be great friends.

I was really excited when my lemon trees were ready for harvesting, this was the first fruit thatmy trees had yielded, and I knew once summer came along lemonade would be a necessity.

My long days and nights gardening had paid off, I felt like I was one with nature, and this maysound silly, but I feel like I have direct control over my plants. With a little encouragement, theirfoliage has been improving.

It was Luke and Ivy's last day together before Luke had to move back home, he was throwing agraduation party later that day. And secretly, I invited Don to come over too, I wanted tointroduce my new friend to some of my family.

The festivities went along well, and everyone had a great time, especially Mom. Luke later toldme that Mom said she was happy that he was moving back into town so she could see him allthe time.

When I saw Luke's choice in clothing I joked with him about how he wants to start a garden nowtoo. And he replied, "Well, I've got to do something while I'm waiting for Ivy to graduate" And youknow, he had a point!

Don made it over for the end of the party, but unfortunately Mom had already left, but I wasdetermined to introduce him to someone.

So Don met my sister Leah, and they hit it off really well. Leah still wasn't sure what to thinkthough since he and I were just friends. She didn't seem to believe me, but honestly, I was stillhoping that Hunter would grow some balls and chase after me again.

With Luke out of the house, Ivy decided that it was time to have someone else move in. Sheasked my cousin Melody is she would like to pledge, and she accepted. Soon after she movedin, we weren't really that tough on her.

With the first fall of snow, Ivy graduated from college. She didn't plan on throwing a party, shejust wanted to polish up some of her skills before she moved back to Pleasantview with Luke.

The three of us girls got really close during that winter, you could always find us together, andwe didn't feel "too old" for a good snowball fight.

Fun in the snow did have it's consequences, after staying out with her telescope for too long, Ivylooked like she was an icicle! Luckily I had harvested a ton of tomatoes that fall and she madeherself some tomato juice to warm up with.

Winter brought my pole beans ready for harvesting. I love my greenhouse, it makes gardeningpossible and beneficial all year round.

Soon, Ivy's time was up for goofing around, and she moved back to Pleasantview. I was sad tosee her go, but I was happy that she and Luke would be together again soon.

It seemed to be a trend starting that it was snowing when someone graduated, but I toograduated with a 4.0 in literature. I looked at my last days on campus as days to garden and tieup some loose ends. I was really sad that Hunter had never called me at all since I transferredto SSU, maybe we just weren't meant to be? I had a hard time accepting that.

Gardening was my distraction yet again, instead of being sad about Hunter I applied foradmission to the Gardening club. After a thorough examination of my crops, they accepted me,gave me a wishing well, and over $1000. I was really pleased.

To celebrate I invited Don over, and he gave me a gift for my graduation while playfullyreprimanding me for not throwing a party.

Later that night while we were talking, I asked what he would like to do--"So Don, what do you want to do now? Plant some strawberries, fish?" -- I said laughing."Well, Lana, I really just want to spend time getting to knowyou better""But Don, you do know me, we're best friends, I've never been closer to anyone before.""Lana... do you seriously not understand what I'm saying? Here, let's go inside, I'm starting to

get cold out here"

When we got inside, Don took my hands in his and spoke to me again."Lana, I really feel like we have a great connection. And I would love to be more than just friendswith you. I've been taking it slowly because of everything you've said about Hunter, and I wasbeing polite and giving the guy a chance to step up and win you back since you loved him, buthe hasn't, and I can't wait any longer."

"Don, I..."

Trying to think of something to say, I looked at Don, and he looked back at me, and I saw love inhis eyes, I don't know how I ever missed it!

Pulling him in close to me in a big bear hug, I whispered in his ear."Don, why did you wait so long?""I already told you why, but let's not wait any longer"

And then he pulled me in for our first kiss. And all of my thoughts and feelings for Hunterdisappeared being replaced with thoughts of only Don. We spent the rest of the night togethercatching up on so much lost time. Although this time with Don, I promised myself that I wasgoing to take it slow, I wanted to wait until we were married before I shared myself completelywith him.

I spent my last day at SSU gardening, and teaching Melody how to take care of my plants that Iwas leaving. It was sad to leave all of this hard work behind, but I knew once I got home, I wouldstart another garden.

My last look at Urele Var and SSU was a look full of pride and happiness. You never knowwhere your life may take you, but you have to be willing to let change happen, I will be the firstto tell you that you won't regret it! I'm a little bit sad to be leaving Urele Var, but I know that I'mleaving it in good hands.

Will her family be accepting of her choice?What career will Lana enter into only being interested in her garden and having 6 grandchildren later in life?And finally, will generation 6 continue on with the path of cuteness that generation 5 was granted?
