‘Farmers suffering’Ms. Selja said farmers in theState are suffering due tononprocurement of sugarcane crop besides nonpayment of paddy (rice). “Economic slowdown is causingindustries to shut down andunemployment is on therise. It’s all due to the illconceived policies of the BJP government,” she said.
“Instead of bringing in investment and opening newindustries in the State in thelast five years, the industries
which were established during the Congress tenure previously were being shutdown. Maurya Industries inFaridabad had shut downrecently due to which thousands of employees have become jobless,” she said.
Numerous small and bigindustries have shut down
due to wrong policies andmisplaced priorities of thegovernment, Ms. Selja said.
‘Industry also hit’“Nonprocurement of thesugarcane crop and nonpayment of dues to thefarmers are some of the other issues to which the government has turned a blindeye. Farmers are being deliberately harassed over thepurchase of sugarcanecrop,” she alleged in a statement. Ms. Selja said that earlier, farmers were harassedduring the purchase of paddy crop and now they werenot being timely paid at many places in the State. “Stategovernment should immediately take concrete stepsto solve problems beingfaced by industries andfarming community,” sheadded.
