Fr. Andrew is not having his Scripture Class on December 23 or 30. Bring Your Teacup – On Monday, January 6th, at 6:30 PM at St. Alphonsus Liguori Center, there will be an Epiphany Tea and a discussion on Epiphany. Bring your own teacup. We will supply the hot water and various teas. You are welcome to bring and share some of your Christmas cookies with the teetotalers. There will be a potluck brunch after the 9:00AM Mass in the Holy Family social hall
and EVERYONE is welcome to participate. Bring a brunch dish (enough to serve 8 people) and
enjoy food, drinks and companionship with parishioners and friends. The hospitality committee
will supply coffee, tea, juice and milk and a limited number of doughnuts. Come and be a part of
the festivities on the Feast of the Holy Family!! (Note: there will NOT be a donut Sunday on January 5th, since the hospitality committee is
hosting this event instead).
On Saturday, January 18, 2020 the OLMBSS PTK will be hosting our 9th annual Cash Bash Event and we invite you to show your support and join in the fun! Our fundraising this year will support ongoing school security updates and further educational opportunities for our students. We can use your gently worn shoes that the kiddos have outgrown and those grown up shoes you no longer want!!! The OLMBSS Students are teaming up with Funds2Orgs to sponsor a Shoe Drive beginning December 1, 2019. Shoes can be dropped off in the collection boxes within the vestibules or at the school entrance beginning December 1 till January 31. The students have 60 days to collect 2,500 pairs of shoes, so clean out those closets and help the OLMBSS Students reach their goal. For more information email: [email protected].
Prayers for Healing: Prayers for Healing is a monthly setting of Evening Prayer held the first Monday of each month on January 6, February 3, March 2, (no April), and May 4 in 2020. Evenings will include sung psalms, Sacred Scripture, silence, prayers for petition and a spoken reflection. Open to all faith traditions, prayer will be held from 7:00 pm-8:00 pm in the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse Chapel, located at 1020 State Street in Baden. Reservations are not necessary. An SJHS student, Eli Swierczewski ’20, has just been diagnosed with a recurrence of Ewing’s sarcoma.
Join Spartan community in praying for Eli. SJHS is selling Tshirts to support Eli and assist his family
with expenses. Short sleeve tshirts are $10 and long sleeve tshirts are $15. The Spartan Boys’
Basketball Team is dedicating the 2019–20 season to their teammate, Eli. They are selling wrist bands
for a suggested donation of $5.
HOLY FAMILY FISH FRY 2020 NEW Leadership for organizing, purchasing and running the Fish Fry and Pierogi making Operations is needed for 2020.
Warming Station Supplies Needed: Catholic Charities’ warming station in downtown Pittsburgh
is open and offering warmth, coffee, and snacks to the homeless during the bitter winter months.
Your help to keep the program stocked with supplies makes a big difference. Catholic Charities
needs following items: hand and foot warmers; hats; gloves; mittens; scarves; coats (size XL and
larger); granola bars; cereal bars; instant oatmeal; instant soup; toiletries (especially lotion and chap
stick); underwear (all sizes); and warm socks. Supplies may be dropped off at the Susan Zubik
welcome Center where the warming station is housed (212 9th Street, Pittsburgh, 15222).
