Once again the good people of Elland Golf Club have joined forces with us and that’s where we’ll be on Friday July 1st, Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd. The first night will see our great friends Plumhall kicking things off with their fantastic songs and brilliant stage presence. Then it’s local singer- songwriter Ryan Spendlove. Just like last time there will be a delicious hot supper served every night straight after the second act. Then comes the first of our long-distance perform- ers. Liam Merriman, Eoin O’Meachair & Paul Grant fly in from Waterford to perform the first of their two shows. And to headline Friday we’re absolutely delighted to announce that Fairport Convention front man Chris Leslie has confirmed his attendance. Saturday will see Bella Gaffney launch the show, followed by the second appearance from Liam and the boys. Inside this issue you can read more about each act and we’re very proud to announce that on Sunday we will be hosting a ‘Funday’ throughout the after- noon. This will include live music from ‘Keystone’ and a series of interactive workshops with many of our musicians. And Sunday night promises to be something really special indeed! Back by very popular demand we have EMILY LEE opening, followed by ‘MAIA’ and then a formidable set from the one and only ’RANAGRI’ - then Plumhall will set the stage for a grand finale which will include Julian Dawson and many other performers bringing the whole event to a blistering close! Get your tickets now!! And just going back to Liam & Eoin (above) - we’re very proud to be associated with a true ‘community’ service that these two guys will per- form. On Friday July 1st they will play their unique blend of contemporary music at the day-hospice facility at Overgate Hospice in Elland. On Saturday they’ll be playing in the resident’s lounge at Rastrick Grange care home in Brighouse and finally on Sunday it will be in the restaurant lounge area at Willow Court on Victoria Road in Elland. This is exactly what our group stands for - bringing some comfort into the lives of those who might be socially isolated. Liam & Eoin perform these type of shows all over Ireland and it’s a real privilege to be associated with them doing it here in West Yorkshire. Real Community action! Real Community spirit! Volume 4 Issue 1

Following the runaway success of the 2015 ‘Holywell Community Music Festival’ - naturally we’ve decided to do it all over again! After weeks of phone calls and emails we’ve lined up an absolutely stunning list of wonderful musi-cians, and this year we’ll be adding even more to it. A plethora of perfection . . .

Meet the artists . . . Well following on from last year’s success we really had to dig deep to match the quality of the performers we saw at the golf club in early August. So going through this years line-up we see our great mates Nick & Michelle - PLUMHALL - launching the event. We only booked them for one night last year, but they were just so good we brought them back again! Ever since then we’ve kept in touch and had no hesitation in booking them to sup-port both of our Dave Nachmanoff shows in April. And then its local hero RYAN SPENDLOVE. Ryan’s a bubbly singer-songwriter and his energetic stage presence is always a hit with the audience. Then we see the first of two shows from Liam Merriman. Flying in from Waterford Liam will be accompanied by Eoin O’Meachair and Paul Grant. This is music of remarkable quality and as described on page one they’ll be going out to three local care establishments as well. Liam has recorded in Nashville and the Friday show will fo-cus on his own material and some contemporary classics. And then we have a true superstar! Absolutely delighted to confirm that multi-instrumentalist, Fairport Convention vo-calist CHRIS LESLIE will headline Friday night. We really recommend that you but tickets for this early as Fairport fans will be after them in droves! Liam and the guys will be at the hospice in Elland on Friday and then Saturday sees them at Rastrick Grange Care Home in Brighouse. They’ll be back to play the second set on Satur-day night with a more traditional blend of Irish songs and some ’get you up dancing’ tunes! But opening on Saturday we see the return of BELLA GAFFNEY. Bella played last year as a stand in and we prom-ised to bring her back - don’t miss this amazing young lady’s performance. Simply stunning. After the break we welcome DUCIE - an amazing band that mixes traditional and contemporary styles from across the world. Combining Celtic music, Afro Cuban and Brazillian rhythms with Funk, Reggae, Flamenco and Blues, this vibrant blend of genres takes the listener over a broad, musical land-scape providing music for your ears and infectious rhythms for your feet! Which leads us nicely on to our Saturday headline act THE HAYES SISTERS. Take three girls. Name them Cathryn, An-gela and Jennifer. Bring them up in a home where someone is always singing. Listen to them start to sing in harmony from a very young age. Realise that nature has blessed them with rather beautiful voices. Give them a guitar. Discover that they have a natural musical ability. Mix together; and you have an explosive musical sensation that will blow the audi-ence away. And then to finish off a jamming session . . .

And so to Sunday . . .

Which means we’re in to our first ever ’Funday’ The Golf Club are holding a ‘Backwards Golf’ event and so we decided to get involved and organise some activities to compli-ment this. So we’ll be out in force throughout the afternoon and there’ll be live music courtesy of the wonderful Peter & Pam ‘KEYSTONE’ - plus a whole range of interactive workshops with some of our performers. So if you want to have a bash at song-writing, or brush up your guitar skills, or fulfil that life-long ambition with a banjo or fiddle - now’s your chance! The bar will be open all day and Tracy’s delicious food can satisfy those hunger pangs! But then we turn to Sunday night and what an absolutely spec-tacular line-up of artists for you. Opening the show and back by overwhelming demand, the totally dynamic EMILY LEE. Emily travelled up from London last year and sent a ‘shock-wave’ through the audience with her performance. She actually sold all her merchandise before the end of her set - and had to post out numerous CD’s on her return to London. We’re convinced that Emily is going to be a huge star and delighted to be associated with her. And then we bring you MAIA. Wow these guys are something else. A genre busting mix of sweet stunning vocal harmonies over funky blissed out grooves; punctuated by echoing banjo, guitar, shimmering mandolins, spooky brass and keyboards. Rocking Harmonic Psychedelic Sci-fi folk-all in one band. That’s MAIA - performing in Elland before they appear at Cropredy Festival in August! And then we’re really excited to confirm that we’ll see the incredible RANAGRI - a contemporary folk band of four musi-cians (Dónal Rogers, Jean Kelly, Eliza Marshall, Tad Sargent) who have come together to create some exciting new music. Consisting of flutes; Irish whistles; electric harp; bodhran; guitar; bouzouki and voices, Ranagri fuse celtic folk music with quality contemporary song-writing, enhanced by virtuosic instrumentals, vibrant rhythms and haunting melodies, all interlaced with vivid storytelling. They also tour with Tony Christie as part of the Great Irish Songbook project. If that wasn’t enough we’ll finish up on Sunday with an amazing ‘Grand Finale’ - led by the irrepressible Plumhall and featuring a whole host of the weekend’s performers and some very special guest appearances! Don’t miss this! Once again we’re humbled to announce that top UK sound engineer Paul Smith will be providing the PA and looking after all the technical details. Paul is currently on tour with The Strawbs in the US and three days after his return to the UK he’s off to Japan with Pentangle! Quality personified! And that’s it - add the capable Dave Boardman as our week-end compere and we’re off! Don’t miss out - it was incredible last year and promises to be just as good this time!

KEYSTONE - not only very talented -

but really nice people as well!

Stunning! EMILY LEE
