This nationally acclaimed musician and teacher, John Kelleher, along with his 12 string guitar and his unique collection of costumed hats, masks, and disguises, educates and inspires his audiences through his spirited and interactive style of music. His exciting and unique method of teaching and empowering children has been greeted with overwhelming approval and support from schools, parents, police departments, and most importantly, the children. In every show, the message is clear; each one of us can make a difference, in school, in our community, and in the world. FROM MS. QUIGLEY: Thank you to all who provided 75 bags for the Interfaith Food Pantry. That was an increase of 10 bags, which kept our visiting first grade class busy, stocking the shelves. With all that is happening around us it is important for our children to see ways they can make the world a better place. This week the children will be collecting coins to fill the boot on Friday for the St. Barnabas Burn center. Our third graders will visit their motor home where they learn how to protect themselves in a fire. Next week well share ideas for raising funds for the Red Cross to help the people in Japan who have lost everything with the earthquake. FROM THE PTO PRESIDENT Seussical Jr. has finally arrived! The culmination of months of efforts by Sloane Harris and Jennifer Shapiro will be realized as all WAS students will enjoy seeing the show on Thursday at 1:00pm. Then, performances will be held on Friday at 6:30 pm and Saturday at 4:00 pm. Jen Clarke, Jill Horowitz and Carol Cooperman have been nothing short of amazing in making this production come to life. The WAS Players have become such a wonderful enriching experience for many of our WAS students. All of your time and energy are very much appreciated! As I hope you are aware, there is an upcoming vote for the school budget on April 27th. Many people don't know that anyone can vote by mail, using the 'mail-in ballot'. This is a great option for people who commute and will be home late that night, and for busy parents. THE HOME PAGE Washington Avenue School 973-457-2510 (Office) 973-457-2510 Press 1 (Attendance)

To vote by mail, you need to fill out an application. They're currently available at the schools, but you can also go to the Morris County Clerk's website and print the application: http://www.morriscountyclerk.org/html/elections/pre_ballot.asp You can read the rules there, but to summarize, it's a two-step process. You fill out the application and mail it in, and then the actual mail-in ballot is sent to you right before the election. Keep in mind that once you request the mail-in ballot you can only vote by mail; you can't change your mind and go to the polling locations on April 27th. The deadline for applications to reach the County Clerk's office is 7 days before the election, so that would be April 20th. PTO March Minutes have been posted on the WAS webpage.
